Le Chateau de Namur

Been in Belgium for 5 days,the other two hotels we stopped in in Bastogne were brilliant. Stopped here for one night. Hotel is in the middle of no where. First night was ok but the Wi Fi signal was awful, a really weak signal, in & out getting connection, even when we got a connection each screen took ages to configure. Next morning before leaving we wanted to take a shower, pretty standard I would suggest. The water was freezing, we contacted reception who came up and said keep it running for 10 mins & it should be okay. We left it running for double that time, still freezing so no shower for us. The staff member was unhelpful & rather rude, not a good experience would never ever stop there again

L'hotel se trouve dans un cadre vraiment joli, le personnel très professionnelle, le petit déjeuner très bon et le restaurant excellent.

Le décor des chambres est de mauvais goût certainement pas a la hauteur du bâtiment, le lit est petit et peu confortable, le champagne illuminé sur le mur pas très bon goût non plus, l'odeur de la chambre pas très agréable.

The hotel was within waking distance of the citadel. Food was very good.

Decor was dated and tired in our room. Although comfortable it did not feel welcoming.

There was a bicycle race that day in addition to construction. Getting in and out was hard and the staff didn’t have answers to help know how to leave a better way to avoid the race.

The students at dinner were marvellous, trying very hard to converse and explain the foods ordered. They were industrious and keen. Kudos. Our bikes were in good safe storage.

Breakfast is expensive. We booked in at 7 and no staff there. We started eating and the man who had been looking after the wine at dinner turned up after about 15 minutes. He spoke one word only to us. ‘Coffee’. I tried to converse with him (noting he’d been busy at the dinner, and commenting on all the corks he sniffed as he opened up many wi e bottles), but he pretended to not understand. He spent the rest of the time with his back to us, or not in the room. Per the card on the table, we could request omelette or pancakes. That option not provided despite the cooking area set up. seemingly he decided he wanted nothing to do with us. He could learn from the students who have nailed trying to communicate. We left feeling deflated and disappointed by his attitude and not being able to have an omelette, as promoted and receiving the benefits of a more expensive breakfast.

De kamer was mooi, fijne bedden, goede douche. Diner in het restaurant was goed, over-ijverig personeel.

Het hotel mist sfeer, in de hal, het restaurant, en vooral in de bar. Daar valt zoveel meer van te maken. Zo’n prachtig gebouw op zo’n unieke locatie. Zo jammer !
