Avli Lounge Apartments

This was a wonderful experience. We were welcomed by some welcome drinks and food (all of which was delicious). This was the best hotel we stayed during our two-week honeymoon in Greece.

After a bit of a drive and struggle to find Old Town, there was an oasis and a kind inn keeper. Katerina greeted us with a glass of wine, fresh and delicious appetizers and the charm of her company. We were only there for 3 days of a 9-day stay in Crete but it left my wife and I longing for a few more days. Spectacular accomodations, fantastic staff and food prepared with love. If you come from any ethnic background where food is the currency of relationships you will understand. If you eat anywhere else you're making a mistake. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with newly weds while Katerina cooked for what seemed hours. We left full in both spirit and body. I'm not sure when we'll be back but I'd hate to think that was our last visit.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Avli. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink and appetizer, even though we didn't arrive until midnight. It was such a pleasant way to start our stay, especially since we had a lot of trouble getting to the hotel and parking lot using the GPS. I strongly advise that if you rent a car and drink from Heraklion to Avli that you follow the map/instructions from Avli. The parking lot is very easy to access if you follow Avli's instructions. The hotel itself is in a great location, very walkable around the adorable town. The rooms and bathrooms were very large, clean, and quiet, with modern decor and amenities. The breakfast each day was fantastic, the best we had in our 2 week trip around Italy and Greece. There are many options to choose from on the menu including yogurt with fruit and multiple egg menu items. They even gave us a "to go" bag with breakfast on our last day when we had to leave very early. The entire staff was fantastic, and spoke very good English. In particular Jonny (at reception) was incredibly helpful with restaurant recommendations and arranging the rental car. We picked up the rental car at the airport, and he was able to arrange for us to drop it off at the ferry port (saving us a lot of time and a pricey taxi ride). Overall an amazing experience. We hope to return to Crete and Avli.

After the challenge of finding our way into Old Town Rethynom, we lucked out by parking in the right, complementary lot. (Castro on Melissinou Street). You walk into old town a couple of streets. We were there only one night and lucked out to be upgraded to a gorgeous room, super spacious and elegant. We regretted we were only staying one night. Elegant, quiet, lovely linens, huge bathroom, and a window opening into a wee courtyard. We were either in the White or Beige suite, and it would be appropriate for a honeymoon suite. The breakfast was served in their sister restaurant, set in a garden. It was not a buffet, but a series of courses with choices. Delicious, interesting, with many Cretan specialties, and generous - we couldn't finish it all. We were amazing that the tariff was so low for the quality of the property. We did visit in early May, so hadn't reached full tourist season. Location was very central for this walking town, in the midst of the Old City, and close to the Fortress. A magical experience.

Great stay in the heart of Rethymon, the service was excellent, you really feel like you are staying in an apartment in the middle of the old town while staying at Avli. A great way to soak up all of the local flavour of Rethymon & Crete.

Yet another amazing weekend get away. Nothing has mchanged since our Valentines stay. If anything, the place got better! Hands down... the best hotel in Rethymno

For our first night in Crete and unable to book our next hotel a day early we were forced to spend a night at Avli - the room was superb, I underestimated the value of a jacuzzi bath, and our dinner that night was heaven.

Nice room, but needed maintenance ( which was made the second day of our stay.Gorgeous breakfast at the restaurant garden. Professional stuff, very attentive.
