Vintners Retreat

Perfectly situated between the many excellent wineries in the area, the Vintners Retreat offers the option of easy cycling from cellar door to cellar door. The property itself was excellent. I particularly appreciated the powerful shower and the streaming options on the TV.

We stayed at Vintner’s Retreat in one of the Manor units overlooking the vines and the mountains. Wonderful location amongst the vineyards and wineries, great facilities and fabulous views – with the unexpected delight of night time harvesting of the grapes, which was fascinating. A special shout out to Mike who demonstrated amazing customer service, above and beyond the call of duty. I had left my tablet device in the room by mistake, and did not notice until several hours later when we were waiting at the airport for our flight back to Auckland, and had already handed in the keys to our rental car. Mike did not hesitate, and came out to the airport to reunite me with the device. An absolute star. Thank you so much for our fabulous stay!

It was near the bike rental place and where we explored wineries.

This was the typical rental property. Old, out dated, not very clean

We booked the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom stables ( number 6) which had a king bedroom upstairs with ensuite shower and spa bath , & a downstairs king bedroom with ensuite shower. The semi detached house is just lovely , set in a private complex of houses looking over the Vineyards. The manager at reception was helpful regarding our stay & @ the area ; and explained where recycling place is onsite for when we checked out ( to dispose our recycling items we use ). The kitchen is very well equipped with coffee machine , dishwasher, large cupboard larder, lots cooking utensils , and a separate utility room with washing machine & tumble dryer. TV had access to Netflix ( if you are a member of Netflix & use it just remember to sign out on the tv !). Open-plan Kitchen / diner / lounge is very comfortable , with patio doors onto small lawn area with gas barbecue and outdoor seating & table . Great views across to Vineyard. We loved our stay , so relaxing. Location in the middle of all the famous Marlborough Vineyards , and 5 mins walk down road to the Wairu Vineyard Estate , " number 11 " restaurant and wine tasting. Food here was incredible and we paid for the wine tasting experience as extra - good value. Looking forward to coming back to Vintners Retreat next time we return to NZ.

So spacious - a whole three bedroom cottage just for us. Made coming home difficult as we don't each have our own dressing room. Great location for wine tours.

The quality of some of the kitchen kit could have been better - but this is a detail.

We booked a two bedroom/two bathroom villa which almost felt too big for us as a couple but they didn’t have anything smaller. The villa was spotlessly clean although not luxurious and furnishings were a bit tired. Bathrooms were slightly dated but again very clean. Bedding was crisp, white cotton and plenty of towels were provided. There was a washing machine and dryer in the garage and washing powder etc. was also provided. The garden was lovely and the views over the vineyards from the back of the house were outstanding - views I will never forget. Check-in was very easy, we arrived early but our villa was already ready and waiting. We hired bikes to cycle around the wineries and it was a great day out as they were all close by and easily accessible. Would happily stay here again, the location was perfect.
