Carmel Wayfarer Inn

I felt the location was in good proximity to downtown and a good walk to the beach.

No one was on property when we arrived at 4:45 PM nor was there anyone for the rest of the night. Our room was not what we booked. No communication prior or in envelope with key and check in/out instructions. Waited 30 to 45 minutes for someone to get back to us after reaching out. Told there was a plumbing issue with our room and we were upgraded. We had booked a room with a partial ocean view and received a room that backed up to the alley and street and had an extra room with two beds that we didn’t need. Just a little too economical for our taste. Furnishings/ finishings seemed worn and a flat sheet was used for a fitted. Mike did offer a 50$ refund but I am waiting for it to reach me. Also lock was a simple door handle lock to the outside door.

I liked close proximity to Main Street.

Limited parking.

Location & gardens!

The hotel location and views were amazing. There was plenty of parking and the shower had hot water. The staff was very kind and let us check in early because our room was ready.

The room was dirty. Dirt/dust on the tv, all the baseboards, and on the walls near the floor. There was black dirt on the floors that obviously needed a light scrub to come up. Our socks were dirty after walking on the floors. There was also only a door handle lock, no other deadbolt or anything with room doors that access the road.

Location is definitely the strength of this property. Rooms were clean. Bear in mind if you have a big and heavy luggage you need to carry up to the stairs. I did. Bathroom could use a renovation. Overall it's good to sleep and be close by from downtown

There was a strange smell in the room, thankfully was able to park on the grounds but can be a problem when busy.

It was very clean and in an amazing location! Super comfortable and nice rooms!
