My husband and I stayed at Baoase Luxury Resort to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, and it absolutely did not disappoint. We purchased the all-inclusive meal plan, and every meal was a true five-star dining experience—not the typical “appeal-to-the-masses” buffet you often see at resorts. Everything was made to order, restaurant-quality, and the team was happy to adjust dishes based on dietary preferences. The cocktails and drinks were easily 5+ star as well.
From the moment we arrived, the service and attention to detail were exceptional. We were greeted the second we stepped into the impressive, beautiful Balinese-inspired interior, with several staff members welcoming us—including the Resort Manager. We were given cool aromatherapy hand towels and a delicious welcome drink, and then whisked away for a property tour that ended at our room. No standing at a check-in desk, no paperwork routine—just seamless hospitality.
Our room was beautifully prepared and thoughtfully stocked: leather room keys, all information organized on the cocktail table, a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, fresh flowers, and fresh fruit (including dragon fruit). The amenities were top-tier—high-quality linens, a Sonos sound system with a tablet, a coffee machine, hot tea service, and a stocked mini bar.
A quick note on room selection, especially if you’re booking last-minute: because we booked relatively late, the only room available for our dates was the Colonial Room (a large one-bedroom). We understood it did not offer a water view, and that wasn’t a concern since we planned to be out and about during the day. The room itself was spacious and well appointed. However, I do want to flag an important consideration: it was very noisy starting around 7:00 a.m. We heard a repeated bumping sound that seemed consistent with staff going in and out of a door below us (the room is on the second floor and the office area appeared to be beneath it). There was no sleeping in, and the noise carried even over the A/C and ocean-wave sound we use to sleep. If a good view and sleeping in are important to you, do not book the Colonial Room.
Logistics were easy too: you can arrange private airport transfers through the resort, and transportation is available if you’d like to head out. That said, if you enjoy a scenic walk, you’re about 25 minutes from the town center, with restaurants and cafés along the way.
My husband and I have traveled extensively, and this was genuinely one of our top five resort experiences worldwide because of the service, ambiance, culinary excellence, and peacefulness. Special shoutout to Anthony, the Resort Manager—present, attentive, and genuinely engaged with guests. He greeted us upon arrival and was there to send us off as we headed home, which says a lot.
Areas for improvement (shared only because the overall experience was excellent): there may be a training/consistency opportunity with housekeeping. Fresh fruit was left in our room for the first three days, and then it stopped. Also, the first-night turndown service was stellar—battery-operated tea lights, treats, and beautiful touches—but we only had the tea lights that first night. Once the batteries died, they weren’t replaced on subsequent evenings, so that “signature” turndown experience didn’t continue consistently. None of this took away from how much we enjoyed our stay, but for a resort operating at this level, I’d expect those details to be more consistent.
What would make it even better? More on-site activities and a larger gym. That said, we understand they’re actively expanding and plan to add more experiences. Also—bonus memory—we even learned to salsa during our stay.
If you’re looking for a solo escape, a couples’ reconnect, or an elegant family gathering, I highly recommend Baoase. Quiet, beautiful, and a true five-star experience.
