Holiday Inn Express Bremen Airport by IHG

Schöne ruhige Zimmer, obwohl es so nah am Flughafen liegt.

Leider hatte die Bar sehr früh geschlossen. Am Samstag wurde uns um 22.30 Uhr gesagt, dass es ja auf den Sonntag zugeht und deswegen die Bar nicht mehr aufmachen wird. Hier hätten wir uns mehr Flexibilität gewünscht.

I stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Express Bremen airport. I was lucky to get an early check-in (around 12:30pm) and the lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. With IGH Platinum Elite status, I was given a free upgrade to an apartment (one room suite) in the newer building. The room was huge and had 3 windows that could be opened to a quiet side street. I liked: + Kitchen sink, microwave, fridge with freezer, kettle + Bed comfort including pillows with a medium firm structure + Lots of seating options + Plenty of storage ++ Real glasses in the bathroom (unlike Holiday Inn Express in North America) + Very quiet (no room to room sounds) + Real telephone with quick dial to front desk + Small gym that includes an exercise/yoga mat, free weights and 3 aerobic machines To improve (or problems noted) - There is an input panel to connect a laptop to broadcast to the TV. but it does not work because the TV is software locked to hospitality mode. As well you can easily reach the back of the TV to plug a streaming stick, but because the TV is locked to hospitality mode, you cannot change the input / source. During my travels, about 20% of properties seem to want to block the guest from accessing entertainment on their own devices in their own language. - The TV remove did not work properly (some arrow keys not functional). I called front desk and within about 20 minutes they came to my room with a replacement remote. - The TV has one English new channel from UK. (everything else is in German),,,,,this despite the fact in the crowded breakfast room, I heard a lot of spoken English. - Seasonal HVAC. As in a lot of hotels in Europe, the staff decides when you are allowed to have AC. My room was hot upon arrival and the front desk staff who came to my room explained that they had not started the AC in this section of the building yet ..."sorry". Luckily by evening time, it had cooled down outside and with the windows open and a floor fan in the room, I was able to cool the room down. I went downtown for the day and that was super easy. 12 min walk to the TRAM. Purchase 3.40 euro ticket and 13 minutes later I was downtown. Breakfast was very good and I really appreciated real glasses and china wear plates (as opposed to all the disposable dishes at Holiday Inn Express properties in North America)
