Die Zimmer sind alt. Wir hatten den Blick aufeinen baufälligen Hinterhof… sons aber gut.

The hotel is charming, the restaurant is great, but above all the staff made our experience unforgettable. Ray and Mary Jane made sure all aspects of our stay were within expectations, with kindness and heart.

The breakfast was extraordinary with many delectable options. Staff members went out their way to be gracious and efficient. The dining room was beautiful with a view of gardens. A peat fireplace in one hall. Modern bathrooms. Luxurious carpeting. Garden views from the room. As an artist and designer, I found the choices made for the upgrade of the bathroom to be clean and refreshing a modernization yet authentic to the original. The hotel works to create smooth, seemingly effortless harmony. Relaxation without a lot bells and whistles - perfect retreat to refresh the soul. Extremely romantic for a couple, almost like being inside a favorite novel. We stayed in for dinner one night - a classic chablis, seafood chowder and sea trout, what a meal! It would be a pleasure to return; we hope to do so one day.

The bed was somewhat too hard for us. A few items needed minor repairs. The closet closed very noisily, for example. The cellular service was weak - but it might have been a blessing. A bit of English stuffiness about the place, but we didn't mind somehow. We didn't have time to enjoy the common rooms (library, drawing room, bar) because our bedroom was so comfortable. It's hard to come up with things we didn't like.

Nous n’avons pas pu prendre de douche car les installations dans les deux chambres ne fonctionnaient pas. Pas de pression, pas d’eau chaude. Très décevant pour un hôtel de cette catégorie.

Superb location and ideal base for touring Connemara. Fabulous gardens which were in full bloom......Had 2 breakfasts which were excellent. Had one evening meal which also was first class. Beautiful dining room with very friendly and attentive staff.

Breakfast was very good and we were not rushed in any way by the staff. Service was excellent throughout - polite and non-intrusive. The room was sizeable and comfortable and the bathroom was modernized and spacious. The hotel is very old- world and charming with beautiful gardens.

I feel that the restaurant menu could do with a few tweaks. Although the food was all locally sourced and delicious, I felt a tad underwhelmed. A few additions might include fries, a firm favourite, and more exciting sides. Boiled broccoli and puréed carrots don’t really cut it - charred tender stem broccoli and honey roasted carrots would add a bit of flavour and elevate the menu. A Cheese board would also be a welcome addition. I also think more choices - maybe sharing plates - might make the menu more appealing. It was a little bland for my liking.

This hotel is a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. So comfortable and they staff were so pleasant throughout. We had brought our dog as the hotel is dog friendly…they could not have been more accommodating. 10/10
