Hotel le Mouton Blanc

The place was right on the main street of Mont St. Michel, which was just what we wanted. It was like living in another time, especially at night when all the foot traffic died down. There is a lot of street noise in the morning though, with the shops and restaurants getting ready for the day. It could be heard starting just before 5am. If you want restful sleep, I'd recommend you stay somewhere off the island.

The property was well located, and overall a good place to stay. The lack of ventilation (no AC and pigeons just outside windows) made things a little uncomfortable. Room was austere, but clean and breakfast was very good.

Service was TERRIBLE!! Rude and not minimum services: reception at the hotel, very unfriendly, no AC, No elevator, etc etc

Was like sleeping in a closet. Mattress should have been thrown out a decade ago.

It is important to check in at reception up the stairs near the restaurant...[the details for check-in should include this.] before you get to the hotel otherwise you will be doing some walking. Some of the rooms are beautifully placed along some of the cobblestone walks, be sure to know where you are going because the walk with luggage can be a little tiring especially after walking from the shuttles. The accessible scenery, abbey and shops, and area around the room, sunsets and sunrises, make it all worth it.

The hotel itself was fine however, the check in process is maddening. We wondered around for two hours calling the hotel, trying to find out where to check in with no avail. They kept saying they would meet us on the street, but they were never there. This two hour delay caused us to miss dinner that night because all restaurants were closed by the time we were finished. Very challenging situation.

Our hotel rooms were spotless and - as expected- small, historic and comfortable. The only issue with our accommodations was the lack of information given us when booking concerning how and where to check in. Booking was via the Mont Saint-Michel site- quite easy and efficient. Unfortunately, no information concerning HOW we were to physically check in was supplied with our reservation. We discovered- after an hour of dragging suitcases up and down steep steps amidst hordes of tourists clogging the main thoroughfare- that there is apparently a centralized "check in" site for the various local hotels- a fact which we were not aware of...the site discovered only through the kindness of locals. After said check in we were directed to our rooms- which were actually in an annex near a church....not, again, a free-standing hotel, per se. Please note that the breakfast was actually served in a side room of the restaurant of the Mouton Blanc Auberge- which we then realized must be a hotel...just not the site of our actual rooms. Confused? Yes. in summary, be aware of the check-in snafu and all shall be well. subsequent check-out took approximately two minutes in the same centralized locale. the hotel rooms are lovely, simple, well- appointed, and situated in an obviously astonishing locale that is well- worth the climb. Just pay attention to the above....and PACK LIGHT

Not amazing but ok. Curtain was hanging off the rail, no toilet roll provided, but not overly bothered by it. My advice to other travellers is not to stay and eat there at all, would recommend a visit as it is a spectacle but the experience as a resident staying one night took the shine off. Restaurants and shops are limited, expensive and of poor quality.
