Hotel Livingston Siracusa

The good: The staff is EXTREMELY helpful! They communicated very clearly through Expedia how parking worked, and that we needed a reservation with a garage 100m away. We also needed to register our car license plate with the city, as the hotel is in a controlled traffic area. The hotel managed the city registration and parking registration for us! Also, directions to the parking garage were perfect. Parking and driving in Ortigia can be challenging, but it's not nearly as difficult as in central Palermo, for example. The property is an older hotel with "classical" decor, but it's in really good shape. It's very close to the water in the Ortigia area of Syracusa, which is an historic, walkable area. Everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and equivalent in style to other hotels in Sicily. The bad: Not really bad, but weird? The staff brought up an oscillating fan with a misting feature to help cool the room. It seemed the hotel (and room) had central air, but I guess they don't turn on central air in April? Maybe they wait until summer. Anyway, the room got hot during the day, even with the fan, but we opened the windows at night and let the cool air in. Also, we asked for restaurant recommendations nearby, and it seems the staff doesn't eat out nearby that much. They did point us to one street and marked a few spots on a map, but couldn't remember the names. We did find an excellent restaurant (Scuola Alimentare) and wine bar (Evoe).

The staff was so friendly and capable. Old time luxury. Needs a bit of a facelift but it’s worth every penny (or euro). Beautiful view!

This is a gem on the Island - nestled on the side of the old town (Ortega with views over the sea and onto the next peninsula. The whole staff here were friendly and welcoming. The room I booked had a sea view and it has a balcony, and two huge windows to enjoy it from. The room was clean and well-furnished. Meanwhile, the garden room on the 4th floor is the best place to enjoy Breakfast - and the buffet is the best I've had in many years. The waitress tipped me off about the tower above the garden room, and sure enough you get 360-degree views across Syracuse, plus enough space for 3 tables and some sun loungers. Once I'd had a morning visiting local attractions and a lunch I came back and just took in the sights on the rooftop all afternoon. Heaven in a tourist city - you've got to try it!

We stayed here for two nights as part of a small group tour. I would call this a classic old-school European tourist hotel, boutique in size with wonderful sea views. Everything was pleasant, especially the staff, and the breakfast server was especially nice and welcoming. The breakfast is simple and satisfying with coffees made to order in a rooftop setting. The location is just far enough off the beaten path to be quiet and within 10 minutes' walking distance to the main areas. A lovely location, recommended!

My wife and I spent 3 wonderful nights at Hotel Livingston. The location in Ortigia is perfect, overlooking the water, easily accessible by foot to anything you wish to visit while in Ortigia, but off the beaten path so there are no crowds. And, it’s also only a few minutes from the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus stop which we used to access the Parco Archeologico della Neapolis. Our room was very charming and comfortable with an incredible view overlooking the ocean. They provide a great breakfast, and the staff was pleasant, helpful, and accommodating. I highly recommend.

We were greeted by two smiling, fine young gentlemen, both made us feel very welcome. It was a difficult day because my wife was not feeling well so their professionalism put us at ease. The room was great (205) with a balcony and sea view. It was scrupulously clean and comfortable. The morning of our departure my wife was still not feeling well so I asked for a late check out. Lasindu, a top notch hospitality pro, first said another arrival was coming and an extra half hour was all they could manage. But a few minutes later he knocked on our door and gave us another 90 minutes. What a relief! Service with a smile while going the extra mile…a very good experience!

Excellent hotel, perfectly located in Ortigia. The room was very nice and spacious. Stuff very friendly and helpful.

Nice view but limited services, no restaurant only breakfast.
