Abangane Guest Lodge

The general facilities were very good. The bed was very comfortable. The location is fantastic with a very nice view, big pool and a beautiful garden. Very delicious homemade pies!!

The owner is very rude and unfriendly and that completely ruined our stay there. From the very start we didn’t feel welcome. - we arrived late at night in front of closed gates. The code for the gate was shared with us 4 months in advance in a word document which is quite impossible to keep track of if you plan a long Africa trip with several stays. So we had to go to a restaurant to get WiFi and to contact the owner. A friendly reminder with the code via email would have been appreciated. - when we arrived, Margret seemed very unwelcoming. She seemed pissed off that we arrived late and while explaining the room, she was constantly with her back to us. Giving us a welcome drink because she had to while making arrogant remarks that she is happy we found the code in the end.. - she reacted aggressively (raising her voice) when my girlfriend asked for matches. The next night, she asked for some new candles as the ones that were put in our bathroom were already used by previous guests and Margret just handed them to her without saying a single word or smile, which made her feel very uncomfortable. - when we tried to use the bathtub that is also a jacuzzi, we pushed the button and a lot of dirt and fungii came out of the little pipes that are supposed to circulate the water, therefore we couldn’t use this at all. - and the most shocking thing happened to us on our last day at breakfast. They have a very nice breakfast buffet and a list of dishes you can choose from. Me and my girlfriend both chose one but we wanted a little extra thing so we asked for a sausage for me and some beans and mushrooms for her on the side. 2 min later my girlfriend went inside to get some coffee and she overheard that Margret is badmouthing us to her staff in the kitchen being very angry that we asked for extras on the side. She was yelling like :”they can’t have everything’, This is not okay’.

Had an incredible stay at Abangane Guest Lodge in August. I went on safari and it’s a perfect location for entry to Phabeni gate. The property itself is stunning, the views are incredible and it was very peaceful and quiet. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and the attention to detail was next to none! I would definitely recommend to stay here if you’re after some peaceful luxury!!

Beautiful views of birds and trees. Extremely helpful staff. Huge choice of breakfast. Homemade cake!

It was a little out of town up a track with large humps. Not ideal for a standard sedan, but it is manageable and not very far.

The host was very pleasent, kind and attentive. She was very helpful in providing more information about activities in the area. Very very nice host. The staff was very nice too.

Very friendly staff and clean room. Great view at the place.

Road from first gate to second gate is dirty road and a bit difficult to get in and out.
