The One 8 Hotel

The staff was very friendly, helpful, and overall really nice. Once I asked if they make pancakes for breakfast, and from then onwards every morning they ensured pancakes were on my table, which was very sweet of them. The location was superb.

Our room was quite small, and a sliding door was separating the bedroom from the toilet with a noticeable gap on the side of the door that could not provide a lot of privacy.

The location in Cape Town was good.The hotel was generally acceptable for a three-star property. However, the price–performance ratio did not match at all. During our three-week trip through South Africa, this was by far the most expensive hotel we stayed in, yet it did not deliver a corresponding level of quality. The room and its furnishings were quite worn, which in itself was not a major issue. However, for a hotel charging around €140 per night, it felt significantly overpriced. Another point worth mentioning is that when we entered our room at around 5 p.m., the room temperature was approximately 35°C. After turning on the air conditioning, it became somewhat bearable after about an hour. The next day, we left the room late in the morning and deliberately left the air conditioning running. When we returned in the afternoon, the air conditioning had been turned off and the room temperature was again around 35°C. On the day of departure, we also purchased a bottle of water for €2.60. Later, we noticed that the same amount of water at the airport cost only about half as much.
