"A wonderful family experience!"

10.0

Despite only staying one night, my wife, myself and two sons absolutely loved our visit to Jinpyokaku. They spoiled us with a wonderful room including a private outdoor bath, extremely comfortable beds, and gourmet, homecooked Japanese meals. All the staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. We would absolutely visit again.

"Beautiful Ryokan"

10.0

We loved our short stay at the Jinpyokaku Hoten. We stayed here to visit the nearby Snow Monkey Park and the location could not have been better. Our room was great, with our own private onsen, fed by a natural hot spring, in our bathroom. We had a wonderful traditional Japanese kaiseki dinner in a private room, and breakfast was just as delicious. But, mostly importantly the staff was so friendly and accommodating. It all made for a great stay.

"Great Experience"

10.0

If you want to spoil yourself, and at the same time see the Snow Monkeys, Jinpyokaku is the perfect place. Excellent service by English speaking staff, private as well as shared hot onsen, free pick up at the local train station, and just 5 min walk to the entrance of the Snow Monkey Park. The property is very private, only six rooms, quiet, and nice and warm. The lady owner is also the chef, and both the breakfast and dinner are quite exquisite, and substantial. Wine and sake is available at reasonable prices. Highly Recommended!

"Great location, food, service & everything "

10.0

We stayed here 2 nights 3 days. The staff speak perfect good English, with Japanese polite service attitude, always announce before entering the dining area. The room is specious, warm with private hot steamed bath. They also provide free pick up at the local station. Best of all the hotel is just 5 minute short walk to the entrance of Snow Monkey Park, then another 2 km track up the mountain. Lots of privacy, there only 6 rooms, in this charming ryokan established since 1901 historical and elegant, with modern facilities. Meals Breakfast and Dinner are rather substantial, fit for sumo wrestlers. Totally worth the experience. About S$380 per person per night, including expenses on wine, beer and miscellaneous. Very reasonable. Highly recommended for sighting of snow monkey, snow all over the ryokan, but we are kept warm and nice! The lady owner is equality charming.

"Just perfect "

10.0

We spent two nights and it exceeded our expectations. Transfers from the station went to plan, As we had contact them while in Tokyo on what time the train was arriving. This ryokan is just about at the entrance of the monkey park. As we stayed two nights we where able to see the snow monkeys twice. Also, it’s just about a 20 minute walk to Shibu Onsen a small village famous for their public baths. We had lunch there and strolled around the lovely narrow streets. The room we where in was very large as to other ryokans we have stayed at. We did have the choose of an inside and outside private onsen, but we did use the public onsen. Food was of home cooking style but very delicious. We where not expecting Michelin star food. Staff where extremely helpful and spoke good English. Our stay was just perfect as we really enjoyed the staff, the accommodation, and of course the snow monkeys.

"Absolutely perfect"

10.0

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and were blown away. The location, service, and room were all perfect. I can't recall ever staying anywhere with better service. This is the perfect place to relax for a couple of days and see the snow monkeys. The meals are great, and HUGE. Definitely arrive hungry for dinner and breakfast. We had a room with both a private indoor and outdoor onsen, which was great. Aside from seeing the snow monkeys, we also walked into town to taste some sake. All in all, a perfect experience.

"A magical place with incredible service"

10.0

We've been lucky enough to stay in ryokan before having visited Japan on a few occasions, but this is hands down the most delightful place we've ever stayed in Japan. We had a stunning family room with multiple rooms and a private onsen. My husband, myself and our two sons (age 12 and 15) were wowed when we arrived. There is a special heated table covered in a blanket that you sit under. Our family sat there and talked and read together. Blissful. The futons were made up with hot stone water bottles at night and you feel asleep to the sound of running water. The big onsen was lovely both early in the morning and post dinner. The food was out of this world. Beautifully presented (with handwritten menus and illustrations), it was also absolutely delicious. Incredible levels of service from the truly wonderful staff. It's also a short walk to the monkey park. We were here for Christmas Day and Boxing Day and we will never forget our stay. It was magical.

"Lovely ryokan with an amazing staff"

10.0

Spent two nights here are the end of November in a room with a private onsen. The staff was wonderful, greeting us at the entrance and escorting us to our room. We had one staff member assigned to us who handled all of our needs and was exceptionally kind and attentive. In addition to serving our meals, she provided information on local sights and was always available for any request. The service was as good as any 5 star hotel if not better. The room was nicer than the picture online would lead you to believe. Our private onsen overlooked the rustic Farmhouse restaurant next door. Normally, this wouldn't necessarily be a great thing, but the restaurant's charming building and wooded grounds provided a pleasant vista. We did not use the larger onsen which has a shared area as well as dedicated men's and women's baths, however the facilities seemed nice. Breakfast and dinner were served in a private dining room in an adjoining building. The food was plentiful and delicious. Shabu shabu was the star of dinner, and the beef was amazing. However there were several other courses as well, all of which were excellent. Breakfast was also a treat, and the artistry of the table settings for all meals was spectacular. The chef drew out the menu of each meal and at the end of our stay we were presented with them as mementos. Finally, as for things to see and do outside the ryokan - the Monkey Park is a little over a mile walk with a moderate incline. Having never been previously, it was worth seeing, although I don't know that it is worth more than an hour. The park is small and the monkeys plentiful, and it's best to get there early before too many tourists show up. Shibu Onsen is also about a mile from the ryokan, and is a charming hot springs town with a sake brewery and several artists' galleries as well as shops and restaurants. It made for a pleasant afternoon stroll.

"Absolutely wonderful!!! "

10.0

This was my first trip to Japan and staying in this very authentic Japanese Ryokan was wonderful! We had a large room with a private onsen. It was great. We were served dinner and breakfast in a private room and the meals were fantastic. We had shabu shabu for dinner along with trout and many other items and breakfast was just as good. We were a 30 minute walk to the snow monkeys and the lodge provided us with rain ponchos if needed. A young lady named Kate helped us with everything. She showed us to our room and served us tea upon arrival. She helped us dress properly for dinner and served us dinner. She was so sweet and so very helpful. She made the entire experience wonderful. I recommend this ryokan very very highly.
