"Loved this hotel - great location and felt 5 star."

10.0

Loved this hotel! The beds were so comfortable and housekeeping was excellent every day. Especially appreciated the jacuzzi after a long day of walking around. We had the breakfast included rate and the staff at the restaurant was excellent. Felt our room was quiet compared to the downtown Antigua area. Would definitely recommend.

"We will definitely come back here, amazing hotel"

10.0

Really beautiful complex, so much atmosphere, design, stunning. Nice warm pool and well equipped gym which they are even going to upgrade. Great room, good beds, nice bathroom, all perfect. Location cannot be better; in the middle of everything but off the busy street so no noise at night. Restaurant and bar are really good, top quality food and very nice breakfast, with loads of variety, especially on weekends. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful as well

Only thing: I would suggest they keep an up to date list of restaurant recommendations; there are a lot of options in town

Absolutely gorgeous property and rooms. Friendly, gracious and professional staff. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

The food was a bit pricey in comparison to the many great restaurants around

"A Guatemalan Gem"

10.0

There are hotels that provide a bed and a roof, and then there are hotels that provide an experience — one that imprints itself on the memory long after the luggage has been unpacked at home. The Camino Real Antigua belongs emphatically to the latter category. What strikes you first is how deeply, unapologetically Guatemalan it feels. Every design choice — the terracotta roof tiles, the thick ochre-washed walls, the wrought-iron window grilles draped in cascading ferns, the hand-carved wooden columns — speaks to a loving commitment to the architectural heritage of Antigua. Walking its corridors is akin to moving through a living museum of colonial craftsmanship. Long, arched passageways lined with warm plaster walls and dark exposed beams give the impression of strolling through a grand hacienda rather than navigating a hotel hallway. The outdoor spaces are magnificent. Multiple courtyards unfold across the property: one anchored by an elegant stone fountain surrounded by trimmed hedges and colonnaded timber facades; another a riot of tropical abundance — towering palms, bougainvillea in vivid magenta, and a velvet lawn with a wrought-iron bench positioned perfectly for quiet contemplation. The serpentine pool, its deep cobalt tiles shimmering beneath a dramatic Guatemalan sky, is framed by ancient stone walls that no resort architect could ever convincingly replicate. The guest rooms are stunning. Ceilings soar to fourteen feet, their dark wooden beams exposed and magnificent. The beds are lavishly, almost indecently comfortable — piled with linens so soft and pillows so generously filled with goose down that climbing in feels less like going to sleep and more like being gently absorbed into a cloud. The bathroom is a destination in its own right: a vaulted brick masonry ceiling arches overhead, and arched skylights at its apex flood the space with natural light, creating an effect that is part Roman bath, part Guatemalan colonial chapel. The service rivals that of the finest hotels I have stayed at — Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton among them. It is present when needed, invisible when not, and always delivered with genuine warmth rather than rehearsed formality. Breakfast was equally impressive: delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and a perfect start to each morning. The Camino Real Antigua achieves something genuinely difficult — it delivers world-class luxury without sacrificing an ounce of local character. It does not feel like a luxury hotel that happens to be in Guatemala; it feels like Guatemala at its most luxurious. An absolute must.

"Absolute perfection in every way."

10.0

I can not think of a single thing that wasn’t perfect. From the moment you are greeted by the doorman, to the lovely check in staff, to the butlers who escort you to your room, to the waiters and bartenders and groundskeepers and concierge helpers and spa staff…. You will be so impressed by their hospitality and true dedication to a flawless stay. The hotel, the private property woven with luscious gardens at every turn and the rooms filled with amenities are absolutely 5 star. I loved how it was set back from the main roads (like a true luxury escape resort) yet literally a 5 minute walk from the entire Antigua central historic area. Wow. I’m just thrilled I found this amazing gem… and at such an amazing price.

The hotel was beautiful and the ground people and restaurant staff is super friendly, but the front desk is another story. Extremely rude and unhelpful. My husband and I got food poisoning during our stay and they wouldn’t even provide us with Gatorade at 5am when nothing was open. Additionally, the room AC broke off giving the room a smell of smoke. The hotel did not move us rooms or discount the night for having slept in a Smokey room with asthma for our last night. We also had issues ordering food with them and wanting to charge us double for the food being incorrect. Very disappointed with the front desk service and our stay in general other than the grounds of the hotel. They didn even offer us a discount on our night stay given all the issues we had with them.
