Cedars Inn by Greene King Inns

Room was lovely and clean, location great with plenty of parking. Staff were all pleasant.

Food was disappointing, breakfast on first morning was poor and that was after a wait of almost an hour. One customer enquired on their breakfast to be told there was only chef in and the customer explained he had an appointment and would have to leave without eating. Evening meal was okay but nothing above that. Second day breakfast was better as we kept it simple by having the continental option, highlight was the coffee that was decent.

Great overnight stop, and will stay longer next time. Lovely garden, good pub food, great bedroom facilities. Only slight failing was scarcity of staff, which the hotel took on board as something to improve.

Shortage of staff meant garden tables accumulated glass, china and waste foodstuffs, which was unsightly and a magnet for wasps. However it was unexpectedly hot and maybe the volume of Friday evening customers was beyond normal.

Lovely building and grounds. Very clean and comfortable and no road noise. Good breakfast.

Fire alarm went off at 2.40am . Got up, got dressed and went out of our room to the fire escape. Nobody turned up to notify us it was a false alarm. Had to go back to room and ring reception. So overal a very disturbed night and was unable to get back to sleep

We have stayed at the Cedars many times and visit each year to see family who live in the town. On this occasion, we stayed for 4 nights, along with family members, I reported a loose toilet seat on day one to Kelly (Reception staff) and other Reception staff members who reported this on to housekeeping. Unfortunately this was never rectified during our stay and on the last day I reported it again with a view that it could be repaired before any other customer arrives! On the morning of the last day stay, housekeeping had removed the small stand-on towel from the shower when we returned to our room. I reported this to a male reception staff member, however, they went to our room and replaced the small hand towel instead!
