"Good and bad"

The breakfast the first day we couldn't fault it but the second day was not as good bacon was burnt tomato not cooked through. Location ideal for Essex masters clay shoot. The pub food on an evening couldn't fault it nicely cooked and generous portions people in the area or visiting were very friendly. Staff were friendly.

The bath felt small and no hot water to bath or shower but sink had hot water. Could hear noise from pub below and windows didn't close so sleep was disturbed until closing plus one night there was a party on. For cleanliness it was was up and down in the rooms grim on TV buttons for an example and things needed repairing or replacing.

Character hotel, great food and nice staff

The only thing I could criticise is the en-suites are due a re fit. However water was hot and they were clean

Great location for us staff were great

Minor point couldn't speak to any staff at hotel when tried to ring about parking early ( got automated message) And when coming back to hotel after night out couldn't get in other guests staying there let us in

"Beautiful hotel with so much character."

Absolutely beautiful pub and hotel. So much character and it was lovely to have a room in the main building. Comfortable room and bed. Staff were lovely and breakfast was amazing. Really good value for money and I'd definitely book again if in the area.

"Dissapointed"

Staff very welcoming and friendly. Good atmosphere. Nice pub grub and decent breakfast.

Not advised at check in that there was a water issue. Not cold water. No flushing toilet. Unable to shower with a trickle of scolding hot water. Needed to go to reception everytime so they could re set switch and you could get 30 seconds of water. This should have been explained to us upon check in and an option to book elsewhere should have been offered. Staff trying really hard to deal with issue.
