Dartbridge Inn by Greene King Inns

Nicole was excellent - our Breakfast waitress, she was polite, helpful and knowledgeable, and kept the coffee coming! Location was great, it's right on the road junction, so handy for navigation purposes. Food was good and excellent portion sizes. Good pudding idea of a 'smaller dessert and a hot drink' which was ideal for us, we didn't feel like we were missing out on a pudding (the ones on the menu are a really good portion size, which was too much for Mum) I thought I'd booked a single room but got a double (they don't have singles, no matter what Booking.com tells you!). Asked for a non-slip bathmat (advertised in bathroom) and was given one immediately for Mum.

Entrance through pub, hotel rooms upstairs with no lift. Later we found residents can access the rooms via overflow car park, although to eat dinner in the restaurant, you still have to go down the same stairs (not so great for my 80 yr old Mum) and there's no warning of this... Both our rooms had limited headroom, which was ok for us but my 6'4 Dad wouldn't have been able to stand up all week!! The road outside is rather busy and lots of road noise in Mum's room (mine was at the back, so didn't hear it) local roads were flooded and closed, paths were wet and slippery.

We enjoyed the locality of venue as we were doing the polar express with family. We met up with friends who live locally for a really nice meal which we all enjoyed

There was no view really from bedroom window but why did that matter. It suited all of our purposes otherwise.

Nothing really. Room was a little small and the wardrobe doors a little creaky but didn't spoil our visit

The breakfast was very good, but was surprised it wasn't included with the room.

For me, the beer selection wasn't too good.

The special on the menu was duck but that also was off menu as they had run out of it. We paid in advance for bed breakfast and evening meal but were not considered in the table allocation in the evening so had to sit in the pub area which was not what we were led to believe was part of our booking. Combined with this it was our wedding anniversary , so supposed to be a special break but turned out not to be.A A b

Very functional and warm bathroom, given a quiet warm room as requested away from traffic on busy road, appreciated! Friendly and helpful staff, particularly ladies who serviced our room - sensitively worked around our things and careful attention to detail. Whilst a little tired and nothing fancy, the room was very cosy and served our purpose very well. Lovely smell from surrounding pine trees. Whilst busy road not ideal, it did mean very quick access to all major and minor roads - easy to get to Ashburton, Dartington, Totnes and Plymouth - all lovely and interesting places to visit, lots of great cafes, creative communities and beautiful surroundings.

The mattress on the bed had seen better days, could feel hard springs in places, otherwise would have been very comfortable. Did report it, responded would be replaced. Room was quite dark but much better that than being on the lighter noises sides of the building and out all of each day so didn’t really matter. A bit messy out in the back car park with old broken things left around.
