Golden Bay Apartments-Garden Haven

Warm & welcoming people, big breakfast, with a nice bar at the pool!

For the price, everything was ok!

location was nice, next to the beach and also close to the strip. travelled through to the old town most nights for dinner which is a short 15/20 min walk. pool was lovely and our favourite part of the hotel, always free loungers and not too busy. staff were nice and always available! also offered us a late check out until our flight at 7pm which was rare and very nice as it’s too hot to be sitting about outside.

the room was very outdated and really looked nothing like the photos. the living room area bed was horrible compared to the beds in the main room, no air con in the living room area either meaning whoever is sleeping in there is very warm during the night. bathroom was horrible, had to hold the shower as you were showering, in desperate need of upgrade, felt like a chore going for a shower. no soap in the bathroom which is outrageous and also no washing up liquid to wash your dishes which in an apartment isn’t very nice (and they weren’t cleaned for you so you were reusing dishes just cleaned with warm water). room was fine but expected a little more based off the photos and the price. wifi was terrible had to use my phone data for the full 10 days I was there. pool bar area closes very early, would be nice to have a drink in the outdoor area in the evening. very little storage space for a room that could potentially have 4 people in it. safe was very small couldn’t fit my laptop or iPad in it which defeats the purpose. feels like the hotel needs an upgrade and amenities in the rooms would make people feel a little more at home.

Lovely family run property in a great location close to centre of Malia and beaches - yet feels quiet and secluded as it’s set back quite a bit from the road. Apartment we had (317) was clean and spacious with a large balcony with a nice view (tip: ask for top floor in the west side, nice open countryside/mountains view and very quiet) Very nice pool area, lovely well-kept gardens and tasty breakfast. Super helpful staff - allowed us an evening checkout for a small very reasonable extra fee (as our return flight wasn’t until midnight!) Many thanks Akis and family!

Property is very nice and well looked after, so just a couple of suggestions - the kitchenette area in the room could maybe benefit with a refresh (although we mainly ate out ourselves) The aircon in the main bedroom was effective but a second unit in the main area would be welcome as that area was a bit harder to keep cool during the hot weather. the room was OLD and needs some update. the bathroom definitely needs some renovation - unpleasant to be there, things were broken, not okay to cover hole in the wall with sticker, also curtains were so old that there were holes in it etc. in my opinion this shouldnt be the case when you pay more than 100€ per night.

Akis and his family were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout the whole stay. accomodation is fantastic and pool / bar area was exceptional. amazing location, highly recommend!

Grade A for breakfast, location, staff and cleanliness! A family business that puts a lot of effort and love into it, and at a good price compared to the other hotels. Brought to the property immediately upon arrival with no problems or similar. Departure just as quick and uncomplicated. For this price I would definitely consider this hotel on my next trip to Malia. Thanks for that! Greetings from the 210

For me personally: The bar and the pool were closed very early. Evening session with a drink by the pool is unfortunately not possible. But only 50 meters away from the hotel, it’s going down to business and that until the early hours of the morning.
