Arajilla Retreat

Everything was available that we needed. Excellent and convenient location.

There wasn’t anything. Our stay was perfect.

Good location and nice to have bicycles at your disposal

As returning guests, we were deeply saddened by our recent stay at Arajilla Resort. Having enjoyed previous visits, we have fond memories of a vibrant restaurant and a communal dining area where guests would gather to exchange tales of their day’s adventures. That warm, social atmosphere is completely gone, and the new environment feels cold and hollow. For one of the more expensive accommodations on Lord Howe Island, there is very little left to justify the premium price. Service was nearly non-existent; with only one staff member at reception, we frequently found the desk unattended when we needed assistance. The most significant letdown, however, is the dining. The restaurant is now closed, and the "breakfast" provided is frankly dismal: four slices of bread in cling wrap, a few pastries, and a small jar of yogurt. For a luxury resort, it just looks sad. Arajilla used to be a standout destination, but it has lost the unique charm and high standards that once set it apart. We plan to return to the island in the next six months, but we will definitely be booking our stay elsewhere.

Location on the edge of the village

A few things didn’t quite work as expected, minor maintenance issues

I think the location of Arajilla is the best on the island , its on the West side of the Island so it was great when it was windy, as it was not windy at Settlement Beach, whereas it was at Neds, plus it’s a super easy bike ride to the town and all the restaurants/cafes. The beach it is on is excellent for snorkelling and nice to sit and watch the sunset. We stayed in a suite so it was amazing accommodation. They no longer have a restaurant but there is frozen preprepared meals which are delicious and excellent BBQ and cooking facilities. We didn’t miss the absence of the restaurant.

Breakfast was supplied every day and was very nice and filling, and more than I could eat. It was always fresh.

I would have appreciated more butter, as the two small packets was not enough for the bread supplied. When I did get a spare packet they often took it away when cleaning!

Close proximity to the beach and main areas. Quiet natural surroundings. Friendly and helpful staff. James was very helpful and kindly picked us up after a long hike.

Poor or very basic breakfast that didn’t reflect the price we paid.

An excellent location

Breakfast could have been better. It was White bread and cheap yogurt. A banana and some nicer quality yogurt with protein in it rather than the Farmers Union would have been great. A bit more milk. The shearwater birds were really noisy at night

Great location with clean and spacious unit

- Very costly for very basic facilities - breakfast was poor - 1 tub of yoghurt to share and not enough butter for toast - reception never manned
