Misty Peaks Guesthouse

The location is stunning, with magnificent views of the mountains from the kitchen window. The bedroom we stayed in and its attached bath were very roomy and immaculate.

The layout is odd because the building appears to be built as a B&B with most of the rooms down a long hotel-like hallway. We had the master bedroom and the extra bedrooms were locked, which gave the feeling of rattling around in a large, slightly musty empty house. Fresh flowers and a small spread of snacks would do wonders to brighten the place up upon arrival. We had friends who stayed here when it was a B&B and they raved about the food and hospitality. Unfortunately, that's no longer the situation. Be sure to bring food from a larger town since options at the little store in Fox Glacier are limited. This rental would be great for a large group who could fill it up, but for a single room, there may be better choices. Still, the setting can't be beat and the place has huge potential.

Lots of rooms

We loved the house and the view from every window. We also liked the size of the house and the fact that the house is located in a very quiet place.

Nothing.

Wow! Everything about this guest house was amazing. We did not require all the bedrooms (I think there are up to 6), but this is the perfect place to take a family group or gathering of friends. The glassware, the dining settings, crockery, were all first class. A large dining room table is perfect for get-togethers in the main room, and the view from the kitchen picture window of the Fox Glacier was spectacular. It could not have been better. Worth every penny.

Having to leave...

Beautiful house and gardens with views of the mountains. Each rooms are ensuite which is nice. There's also an accessible bathroom in front of the house for ease of use for elderly and children. Large dining and living area.

Kitchen utensils not adequate. There's only 3 spoons and there are 4 of us. Host doesn't communicate much. Only left instructions after booking and thereafter didn't bother to reply after letting them know we are leaving and there's not enough utensils.
