Hôtel Golf Château de Chailly

The chateau and grounds were beautiful. The staff were all very friendly, and the room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. We enjoyed an evening drink in the courtyard, and the bar was nice. I'm sure it is better during peak season, when there are more staff and things are running smoothly.

We went off season (Easter) and it was quite a shambles. We chose this hotel as a treat for our family to break up a long journey. We chose it because it had an on site restaurant, but when we arrived it turned out the restaurant was closed. We were able to buy a plate of cheese and charcuterie from the bar but that was it. Worse than that, there was no water anywhere in the hotel the following morning between 8 and 12.30. As it turns out, this was a planned shut off, but we were not told about this at the time of booking or when we arrived, which seems unbelievable! So none of us were able to shower in the morning, and all the toilets around the hotel were unflushed which was quite unpleasant. The air conditioning in our room was not working, and it was surprisingly hot for April so our room was too hot at night - however, maybe this works during summer? Breakfast was 25 euros a head which I thought was very overpriced for what we got- cheese and charcuterie (the exact same we had had for dinner), scrambled eggs and hash browns. We went to breakfast at 9.30 (it supposedly ran until 10.30) and there was no bacon left, no croissants. Coffee and tea were self serve. The fresh fruit was not on good condition. It really didn’t justify the price tag. When we checked out, they didn’t have our breakfast on the bill. I told the receptionist that we’d had breakfast and she offered it for free due to the issues we had. That was a nice gesture, and she and all the other staff were very nice (although some seemed very inexperienced, and obviously none of them had told us about the water being off), but we paid a lot of money for our one night and our experience was pretty bad. I think it warranted a bigger discount. I've scored 5 out of 10 based on potential, and assuming that we were just unlucky. Perhaps another time it could have been a 10!

La gentillesse du personnel, la chambre, le petit déjeuner et le cadre de ce très beau château avec son golf.

Dommage de ne pas avoir pu dîner au restaurant, car pas encore de cuisinier, mais la prochaine fois nous nous ferons un plaisir d’y dîner.
