Hotel Bella Muzica

The hotel is opposite the main square, with all sights within a short walk. The bus stop from the station is about 4-5 minutes' walk, going to the station it's a bit longer in the opposite direction (downhill slightly). We had a double room in the roof, with sloping ceiling and velux windows, but the ceilings were high enough not to hit our heads, and it was nice and light (with blinds for night time), and very quiet. The bathroom was small, but the shower was good, with plenty of hot water. The room was cleaned daily. The bed was cofmfortable, although the wardrobe was on the small side, tucked in under the eves, but sufficient space for the two of us to store our shoes, clothes etc. There is an empty mini-fridge for storing water or other drinks/snacks. Our room was at the back of the hotel and very quiet (apart from the bells of all the churches which start up around 7am, but that was quite nice to hear). The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast offered hot/cold choices, although fairly limited, with good coffee and tea, which the staff will make for you (no fresh juices). The hotel is nicely decorated and very clean. We ate in the restaurant twice; this is in vaulted brick cellars beneath the hotel and open to non-residents too. The food was very good for both meat eaters and pescatarians, and service was also attentive without being over bearing.

It would have been good to have had tea/coffee making facilities in the room, and a lift, as we had to climb several flights of stairs (both were detailed in the description on booking, so this was expected, so can't really complain). The wine list (white) labelled the majority as 'sec' - dry - but the ones in the lower price range were very definitely on the medium sweet side. We tried a more expensive one, and it was dry, and good.

It was not a problem for me, but the upper floor rooms would be difficult to access for limited mobility people since there is not an elevator.

Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast and excellent restaurant with 10% discount for guests. A well run 3 star hotel which is a great base to enjoy a lovely medieval city.

It is a very old building with a lot of stairs to ascend/descend with heavy luggage. The air conditioning & heating system took some working out and was pretty hot most of the time.
