aha Thakadu River Camp

I was supervising a student working at Thakadu and was accommodated for one night at the lodge. The accommodation and food was very good. Staff very friendly and accommodating of my needs. While I did not participate in any game drives activities the other guests did and loved it. There is a lot of game and birds around the camp should one decide to relax on the stoep. This is a community run lodge and I would recommend that anyone wanting to visit Madikwe book at Thakadu.

We have just vreturned from 2 nights at this little lodge. It is run by the community and wow do they do a great job. The staff are exceptionally friendly and very eager to help wherever they can. The food is delicious too. We saw 4 of the big 5 on our drives. Lots of elephants and rhino's. The other game vehicle saw a lot cheetah but we missed them.Did see wild dogs though. Getting to the lodge is a bit tricky as they are busy with roadworks in the little village just outside the reserve but we just stopped and asked. There are 12 glamping tents in total and all dotted along the river. We were in tent 12 which is quite a walk from the main area- probably 400metres . Wake up calls were at 5am- coffee/rea at 5.30 and by 6h00 we were on our way searching for game. The lodge has a really nice waterhole - you can sit and watch the elephants and buck all day long. There is a small swimming pool at the main lodge too. We would recommend this lodge to anyone- we absolutely loved it! Thanks to all the staff- we will be back for sure!

An excellent six day stay. The Itinerary was perfect to our needs. Great sightings of animals. Superb food and attentive staff. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. This was our first safari encounter, but we have no hesitation in recommending this location.

Estadia ótima, todos muito gentis e prestativos. Nosso guia no Safari era demais! Duas observações seriam: indicação de como chegar (coloque no waze para a Madikwe Game Reserve e não para o hotel). Erramos o caminho é quase quebramos nosso carro. Alimentação: seria melhor ter mais opções e não somente 1 opção servida

This was a fabulous glamping experience. Fro. The checkin where Hobo (not sure of spelling) and Jerry assited us to the refreshing drink and delicious lunch. We saw 3 of the big 5 on our first game drive and the 4th on the 2nd day. They provide of the conveniences that you would need from blankets and hotwater bag for the game drive to electric blankets for the bed. Every meal was well prepared and delicious. You will not be disappointed with your stay.

We had a great stay at this lodge. It is small enough to have a personal touch. The food was nice - esp the freshly baked bread. We had super game drives with Vincent who was friendly and knowledgeable. We would definitely return.
