Miramar Hotel

I booked this room in advance and later my fiancee joined me in manila when I arrived. The charged me an extra 1700php. If I had noted that it was 2 of us when I first booked the price would have not changed. Asking just because I showed up with my fiancee they asked extra charge. I understand if it was 2 extra people but it was just the two of us in the room. I enjoyed my stay and staff was friendly.

This is a lovely, curious little architectural gem. I don’t know how this place survived the end of the war days but inside you have an Art Deco /modern style that I associate with San Francisco. Just cooooool. The American embassy is almost directly across the street.

Not changing daily bed sheets...bed sheets were smelly.....NO tooth brush and tooth paste...No complimentary water bottles....

Location! Ocean view across street. Rizal Park walk/ water fountain show a plus. Chinese Garden. Other shops along main street. Bathroom./shower has elbow room, but water pressure lacking, but bearable. Desk staff is friendly, but a little rough on hospitality. 2nd floor access to elevator and possibly another flight up to room once off elevator. The benefit was the location to main attractions in the area.

We checked in within the hour we went in search of another hotel. The toilet didn't work, the locks to the rooms were not secure, the room was generally not fit for purpose. For reasons of poor security and hygiene we decided to move to another hotel.

The staff are very friendly. The hotel is very dated but it shows history of its past. It may need some bit of cleaning as it shows so much of its age. The floors are rickety and carpets are soiled.

The room is clean. No outlet behind the bed. The wifi weak after I put in the password. Get walking distance to us embassy.

We picked this hotel based on a Lonely Planet Guide listing. The max per room was 3 people, so our 8 person family needed 3 rooms. The location near Rizal Park and Intramuros and 30 minutes from the airport (at 2 AM, at least) was great for us. The rooms were small but clean. The staff was very helpful and prompt with every request. We din't bother with the restaurant/lounge downstairs as it was a little pricey and there were plenty of other eateries nearby. For what we were looking for, it did the trick. Probably not your place if you want shopping or nightlife, though.
