Hotel DeBrett

We had an absolutely superb stay at the DeBrett Hotel! For our 5-night visit they surprised us with a suite upgrade to which set the tone for the entire experience. Even though we were right on the doorstep of so many excellent Auckland city restaurants, we chose to eat at the hotel restaurant every single night because the food was simply that good. The rib eye steak was outstanding – we ordered it twice, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Breakfast was equally excellent; everything is ordered from the menu and cooked fresh to order, making it a delicious and satisfying way to start each day. The service across the whole hotel was outstanding – warm, attentive, and genuinely excellent from restaurant staff through to housekeeping and the front desk. Our Suite 1841 was huge and incredibly spacious, featuring a massive comfy super-king bed, luxury bedding, separate dining area and table, comfortable sofa, entry hallway which includes a secondary toilet, a dressing room, and a generous bathroom with a massive deep bathtub, that easily fit two people. The complimentary teas and coffees were high-quality boutique brands, the toiletries, including bath salts were lovely and all cocooned by excellent soundproofing for a very peaceful sleep - our suite was located on the first floor and right by the bar and restaurant and in our room, we didn't hear a single noise from either. What really sets this hotel apart is the art-deco come retro decor and unique character – it feels interesting and full of personality, a refreshing change from the usual bland, beige-on-beige chain hotels. The location is excellent being perfectly positioned for exploring the city, and beyond and there’s a Woolworth supermarket just a 3-minute walk away, which was super convenient for any extra snacks or supplies. Don’t hesitate to book here. You absolutely won’t regret choosing the DeBrett! Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The art deco decor, the location. The staff, and the wonderful bath.

Great location, friendly staff, good restaurant and bar. Nice touch was that the staff made us a breakfast to go since breakfast was included but we had a very early flight.

Using the laundry service was a bit expensive for our taste.

It’s a beautiful, classy, private old building with wonderful staff and an amazing internal courtyard.

We liked the layout of the room, which allowed two very tired people, but on slightly different sleeping schedules to enjoy the space. One sleeping and one watching tv and relaxing. It also was very safe. I liked the drink coupons and related amenities that were given to us on arrival. It definitely pulled us into the hotel even more.
