Château de la Verie

We stopped one night on our way back to the UK. It is an impressive Château in expansive grounds. We had a spacious room with good views across the grounds. The breakfast choice was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Whilst we appreciate the Château is an old building, we have stayed in similar accommodation where the guest facilities were more up to date. There seemed to be only one other guest when we stayed. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and the mineral water in the fridge was a chargeable extra. The bathroom door was squeaky so it was impossible to visit the toilet in the night without waking my wife! There appeared to be a water leak somewhere near the toilet.

Une très belle surprise, nous ne attendions pas à un si bel écrin. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre court séjour, les conseils du personnel pour la restauration en ville. Je recommande cet hotel.

Wonderful chateau in expansive grounds! Turret room was full of interesting art and furniture. Owner of the chateau worked tirelessly to make her guests comfortable and happy. Drinks on the terrace in the evening and fabulous breakfast accompanied by soft classical music. Close to good restaurants.

Das Schloss ist sehr schön, unser Zimmmer war sehr groß und das Bad ebenfalls, das Schwimmbad ist beheizt und der Park ist einen Spaziergang wert. Die Vermieterin ist sehr freundlich und hat für unsere Fahrräder auch eine Unterstellmöglichkeit gehabt. Das Frühstück in einem Salon lässt den Tag ruhig angehen. De Liste mit Restaurants am Ort war ebenfalls sehr hilfreich. Empfehlen können wir das Resataurant Louis 13 und, wer es modern mag, auch die Boucherie.

Challans selbst ist nicht so schön, wir fanden aber in der Umgebung genug Abwechslung.

L’expérience était bonne, le lieu est charmant. La piscine et le jardin sont un plus pour l’hôtel. La chambre était agréable et confortable. Petit déjeuner varié, petit plus pour la musique classique dans la très belle salle.

La chambre un peu vieillotte par rapport aux photos que nous avions vue : nous avons été un peu déçues en arrivant. Le prix du petit déjeuner est un peu cher pour ce qui est proposé
