Pinctada McAlpine House

The breakfast was individually cooked each morning and was quite good. The rooms were good and the general surrounds had a nice sub-tropical retreat feel to it, complete with large bird cages that housed tropical parrots, just to add to the atmosphere. Very different, and better, than your standard hotel/motel.

While the house has a large variety of ferns, plants and palms, a bit more attention to raking up the dead leaves, and bit of plant trimming would make the place look far more attractive.

Very quiet and restful and old world ambiance. Leafy surrounds and lots of Spots to sit and relax. Lovely bathrooms and linen. Delicious breakfast- beautifully presented and freshly prepared.

Be aware that it is not close to the shopping area/restaurants and need a bus or cab - readily accessible

McAlpine House is exceptional. It felt intimate, exclusive, yet very homely. It was close to everything, 10min walk to Matos brewery, or 15min walk into town. But it was the staff and the host that truly made the place special!
