Alkion

We had a last minute end of season stay at the Alkion, and could not have chosen better. Dimitri and his family were charming and generous, the apartments were clean with well appointed balconies giving sea views. We liked the fact that the Alkion is about 3 km out of town, and the fact that it is up in the hills gives spectacular views both of the seaside town of Gergioupolis below and beautiful surrounding countryside as well as far distant mountains. The apartments are clean and well serviced, the pool has plenty of sunbeds, and there are two or three restaurants close by (100m) if you don't want to eat in town or self cater.

After a wonderful stay last year, I was given a warm welcome back and was pleased to find standards had not fallen - a great find!

From the breathtaking views of the mountains and the beach to the wonderful welcome from hosts, Evangelina and Ilios, this hotel is a great find. Spotlessly clean and comfortable with a huge delicious breakfast available as an extra, I hesitate to recommend too much in case there is no vacancy for when I next return, which I hope will be soon! Very conveniently located as base to explore Western Crete.
