Turaco Nungwi Resort, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The staff were very welcoming, the hotel was lovely, and the food exceeded expectations with a variety of delicious options. I was pleasantly surprised.

WiFi in rooms was terrible especially at night.

Turaco Resort is a beautiful little paradise where you can truly relax. Our room provided everything one could wish for on a vacation. The location is practically on the beach – we were just 20 steps from our sunbed. The hotel beach is excellently maintained, there are enough sunbeds for all guests, and beach towels are always available. The food is excellent and varied. We had the all-inclusive option, which proved to be an excellent decision. I must praise the attentive waiters who walk along the beach and serve your desired drinks. The staff is very friendly. We experienced exceptional kindness from Efrasia in the main restaurant and from Stephan at the beach bar. However, swimming in the sea was quite a challenge. The position of the moon strongly affects the tides, and during the first three days of the full moon, we had to hurry with swimming because the water receded very quickly, or the waves during high tide were very strong. I warmly recommend Turaco Resort Nungwi for a carefree holiday.

The only thing I didn't like regarding the food is that only the food in the main restaurant is included. If you want to eat at the Fisherman's Inn restaurant, you have to pay extra. We did this only once and found that the food in the main restaurant was actually better. I also have another remark regarding the table napkins in the main restaurant. They are indeed lovely colors (red and black), but the material is so synthetic that you can't dry your hands on them at all.

Konum çok iyi, kahvaltı ortalama, yemek kalitesi ortalama. Personel ve servis çok iyi.

Sehr schönes, nicht zu großes Hotel. Essen immer super. Meer wunderschön zum Ansehen. Ich würde sofort wieder für ein paar entspannte Tage hier her fahren.

Barkeeper übertreiben mit viel (wirklich zu viel) Alkohol in den Cocktails - schmecken nicht mehr und man fühlt sich wirklich schnell nicht mehr gut - ACHTUNG Das Meer ist sehr schön zum Ansehen aber zum Schwimmen leider nur bei Flut geeignet. Auch zum Schnorcheln ist es hoer nicht der richtige Platz.

From the start, the experience was a nightmare. Two days at this hotel completely ruined the start of our Christmas and New Year’s Eve vacation. After day one, we wanted to leave immediately, but the hotel said we wouldn’t get our money back, forcing us to stay. Luckily, it was only two days. The front desk staff were unprofessional and dismissive, showing zero concern for guest comfort. We had requested a room with a balcony on several occasions — both via email and phone — but were given a ground-floor room with no sea view at all, despite our booking being for a partial sea view. According to the staff, since the booking was made through Booking.com, we should complain to them, meaning Turaco takes no responsibility and clearly does not care about bookings not made directly through the hotel. There was no warm water in the shower on day one, and the bathroom itself had black mold on the walls, which is completely unacceptable. That same evening, the hotel experienced a power outage, leaving us without electricity for a short time. To make matters worse, there was no internet at all during our stay. The hotel itself is old, outdated, and nowhere near a 4-star standard. Rooms and common areas are poorly maintained and dirty. Food was another disaster: quality was poor, options were limited, and there were flies all over the dishes in the restaurant. Hygiene and cleanliness seemed completely ignored. Overall, this hotel is overpriced, misleading, and not suitable for any decent vacation. What was supposed to be a relaxing trip to Zanzibar turned into a frustrating, disappointing experience we couldn’t wait to leave.
