The Palace Hotel

Good points location - close to beach and pier Bar area - was nice, decent prices for drinks Breakfast - good range of food and drinks. Should be made clearer that if you want eggs of any sort you need to request these from a member of staff. Bad points - room was ridiculously hot. Had a sense this would be the case as there was a fan going on arrival. But no air con and issues with the window meant it was a terrible night sleep. Huge queue on check in meant this was a long and painful process. No hotel parking and no discount if using multi story next door. £25 a day rate so factor this in. Overpriced for what it is very tired in areas.

Please do not stay here. The stains all over the carpets in hallway and rooms says it all. The smell of weed, the air con not working the windows don’t open. Oh the toilet does not flush and toilet seat falling off.

Service excellent. However the Carpets need cleaning as lots of stains.

Avoid, great location but over priced and low quality. Rooms and building all need repair. Even facilities in the room are hit and miss. Was advised but the staff on the desk. “Air conditioning doesn’t really work so we don’t advertise we have it”. Sums up the experience. Like other reviews the lobby area is nice and so is the bar but that’s about it. What is advertised on the Radisson app and booking.com is not reflective of what you actually get. Have included some photo and to be fair the room photo was on the day of check out not when we first came in. Also a nice feature of the hotel is that you need to call to have your room refreshed. Only found the card on the last day. If you’re lucky to have a sea view you also get to share the excessive with a family of pigeons. I have been a repeat customer for Radisson properties but this fails way short of the mark.

Thw room was hotter than a sauna. Air con was broke as was in every other room. It said it had a bar. It was a mini fridge next to reception. The gym was also lacking.. no weights. As the gym didnt have a window and with broken air con it was 40 degrees in the room.

The staff was all good and quick to respond to any requests. The room was average with all amenities available. Free wifi. The decor could certainly do with clean/update. The carpets and paintwork were dirty and tired. Overall, a good stay in a lovely area close to sea, shops and funfair. Sadly it is quite noisy at nights from traffic although not a fault of the hotel.

I booked to stay for one night, and was given a room on the third floor. No sea view or balcony but a side view of the beach. After unpacking I could smell burning, then heard a hissing sound. Smoke was coming from the key card slot, and my card had a burn mark on it. I was able to change rooms, to one which was smaller, had less amenities and a view of the car park and graveyard. The room was hot and stuffy, the window wouldn't open. Afraid to turn on any electrical devices after previous experience I checked out at 3.45 am, a solo female traveller, and went home. Oh and another thing, the reception might look all lovely but the carpets in the corridors and rooms are filthy. I'm only giving one star because one member of staff helped me move rooms.

Great location, good clean hotel. Overall very pleased. Only thing was we asked for extra pillows and had to remind them after being out all day. Room was very humid, even though we had the sir con on, but i think that was the weather overall. Had sea view but couldnt open the door fully. Still better than expected. Recommend.

Hotel is in need of general maintenence, AC in room was broken, fan that was provided by the very nice reception staff would not stand up by itself, toilet did not flush, shower bracket was broken, Carpet was filthy.
