Hotel Hvolsvöllur

Staff was delightful. The hotel and our room was clean.

Hotel is a bit dated. Room had a musty smell - we opened the window and that helped a bit.

The restaurant was good and so was the breakfast.

Our shower filled up with water almost up to our ankles. Which was very annoying and gross. They have a strict policy of no smoking, however, once entering our floor we could smell the stench of cigarette smell. We are non smokers and the smell truly bothers us. When I entered our room and restroom it was also smelly.

Price could be better

We stayed on our last night in Iceland. The rooms are albeit old fashioned, for a 1 night stay, it's decent. There's a restaurant and the breakfast was nice. This is very close to all the great falls around that area and you can see northern lights right above the hotel. We saw northern lights in Vik and here on the second day. It was beautiful and they also have places you can scan and go to watch the Aurora. 2 hours from the international airport.

Loved the hot tubs, there were two of them and they were open until 10pm. The room was very spacious and clean The buffet breakfast was well-stocked with good variety.

The doors tended to slam.shut, and noise from the hallways/common areas travelled.

Didn’t enjoy the hot tub. It was just warm water in a tub

Food was good
