"Great Location, Amazing Hotel with poor room."

10.0

Staff 5* Location 5* Food 5* lounges/breakfast rooms 5* Hotel Grounds 5*.... Actual Room was disappointing, felt cheated with the extra cost for a partial Sea View... if you stand in the bath & lean out of the window - it's a great view! If the side cabinet & bedside table wasn't by that particular wall & the bed moved over then you would get a partial Sea view. Walk to the bathroom & watch your shoulder as you will hit the Tv sticking out! You hear bed springs when you move (12st) head board makes a banging noise when you roll over. chipboard wallpaper, rough old carpet, just really run down which is Not what the rest of the hotel is about. Rating is 3* BUT it should be higher if the bedroom was modernized. Thankfully You Don't Stay in Your Room Much. !

"Great location, poor experience"

4.0

The location was perfect, right on the coast itself and far from the madding crowd. The staff were all excellent, as was the bed and pillows The room was small, and there was only 1 chair. The bathroom was clean, but the toilet was squeezed between the bath and radiator and it was easy to get scalded The food was attempting to be trendy, but ended up being overpriced and bland I asked to be upgraded from rear to front, and ended up paying extra for a room with 1 less bed, and a tiny window, through which to appreciate the view Overall a less than pleasurable stay

"Cornwall at it's very best"

10.0

Brilliant. Excellent service, food, views and overall ambience. Our room had a superb panoramic view of the sea and cliffs, very dramatic. Our 5 course tasting menu and matched wine flight was up there with the very best as was the friendly and efficient service. We’ll be back!

A lovely hotel in an amazing location. The highlight was watching Blue Fin Tuna jumping in the bay and seeing dolphins (a long way out to sea).

"Characterful romantic accommodation"

10.0

A lovely setting for a romantic weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a little aged but clean and comfy. I would definitely recommend and would consider staying again. The only thing I would say is that there is not much choice for those on a vegan and gluten-free diet, which I think is fairly easy to accommodate for these days, especially when there is a trained chef available.

"Average stay (at best)."

6.0

Reception staff were friendly and helpful.Room was much smaller than expected. Toilet was particularly tightly positioned between bath and wall. Room could do with a blackout blind to block out the lighthouse light shining in all night. Service was inconsistent, depending on staff. Waitress on thursday and friday was awful - she was slow, wearing a holey top and spent more time chatting than working. She brought our fried breakfast before our drinks and toast, only to take it away and bring it back cold after we had eaten the toast. In the evening, We asked for a cocktail and could hear the waitresses discussing how to make it- they clearly didnt have a clue. For £12, I expected much better - it was awful. The service was much better on Saturday - different staff who worked hard and cared. Overall, very average at best and we would not recommend it or return.

It’s fair to say that the rooms need updating and I understand this is gradually being done. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room facilities were adequate. The staff in the main were very helpful and polite. Breakfast is excellent, with a wide range of dishes using local produce. Both restaurants provide a good choice and the food served in both is also excellent. The location and views are stunning. The only real downside was the parking provision - it’s tight and you may have to park off-site. That said, I would happily stay again.
