G Boutique Hotel

The room was clean as were the corridors and breakfast room. The breakfast was also very good. Unfortunately we arrived on a hit day and somebody had had the forethought to put a fan in the room and turn it on. However they did not open the windows, one was broken anyway. The room was at the top of the house and was like sauna and we didn't get much sleep.

There were two large full ashtrays outside at the entrance which did not give a very good impression on arrival. Although we had communicated clearly about our arrival on the ferry and had prior agreement to park our motorcycle at the front of the house nobody had had the forethought to ensure a passage through fir us between the parked cars. We managed to unbolt the panniers to get the motorcycle through. This was not most welcome.

Everything else! This is NOT a luxury boutique hotel - it's just a guest house owned by someone with rose tinted spectacles. We found our room so hot that we couldn't sleep as there was no way to turn off the radiator. Hapless receptionist switched off the entire system in the evening after I threatened to do it for him if he didn't. The next day we were moved to another room which still had a faulty radiator valve but at least we could turn it off by inserting a teaspoon into the valve. Everything was too much bother - the useless idiot on reception in the evening couldn't even find us a replacement box of tissues. The spa baths in both rooms were useless and in one room, the water shot out horizontally and flooded the bathroom. The breakfast was a joke as well. The pastries were not made freshly but sealed in plastic wrappers and every day at least something on the plate was cold and the plates themslelves were cold. It was my wife's birthday treat and to be honest it was almost ruined by this third rate hotel and the clowns that run it.

Clean room. Staff were helpful at check in. Breakfast was excellent.

Bathroom was poorly set out. Tv didn't have digital channels.

There is only parking for 4 cars not all guests. It is on a slope and scratched my bumper.

The location was great, walking distance from both piers & Gunwharf Quays is about a 45 minute walk . The breakfast was delicious & cooked perfectly & the selection of items was great. Parking was a bonus.

The bed was uncomfortable, the mattress was very hard & and the pillows were hard and flat. The table lamps were very wobbly and the shades kept falling to one side. Little room to put items on the bedside table and I had to pull the drawer out for extra storage to place my water in. The shower took a while to get to the correct temperature & it was not fixed to the wall properly & the shower head kept falling into the bath. I gave up in the end. We noticed several ants on the floor. There was nobody on reception when we checked out so we could inform them of these things. We have stayed here many times before & this is the first time we have not been satisfied. Maybe it was just the room we stayed in this time?

It was clean, comfortable and in a good location for transport and the beach. There are a few restaurants nearby. Breakfast was lovely with decent options of cooked, cereal, toast and fruit. Different room names beginning with G were amusing.

Stairs- being at the top meant more stairs, fine for me but something to consider if you have reduced mobility. Nowhere to really get changed once checked out. Would be nice to be able to change somewhere after being at the beach, before going home.
