Somerset West Bay Doha

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Somerset west bay Doha, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff truly stand out—friendly, helpful, and welcoming, they made me feel at home right away. The room was impressively spacious and impeccably clean, offering a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The location couldn't be better; nestled in the heart of everything, it made accessing local attractions a breeze.

I wonderful and relaxing experience. The apartment is so clean and fresh. Staffs were very friendly and attentive. Most recommended hotel in West Bay!

I am a European that lived one year in a two-bedroom apartment in ‘Somerset West Bay’ for business, from November 2024 to end October 2025. Check in: Strict. We were only allowed to sign the check-in papers, no requests taken. Check in prolonged for some time after moving in, as we were called in to re-sign some documents that had been updated. Our company had been promised underground parking spaces, but on the last minute a surprise long waiting list of months did not allow for it. Bellboys: Kind and polite. Front Desk and Front Line Managers: In the beginning it was a struggle. Somerset was at that time a strict place of random rules, with loose internal communication. A couple of months into it we found a common ground of understanding based on minimum administrative interaction. From that moment on, it was smooth and we could concentrate on just kindness. Apartments: 1. Location: My apartment was on the 22nd floor. The living room and the main bedroom were semi bright and directly overlooked the Ibrahim Al Khaleel Mosque. The brightest room by far was the guest room. It had a 100 degree window corner overlooking the waters of the Gulf: Palm Island on the right, the Saint Regis on the opposite shore, and the 5th June Arch on the left corner. 2. Size and distribution: The real apartment looked smaller than the promised size. There was no separate entrance, the main door opened to the living room. Wide and open kitchen with an added big space for washing machine and closets. There was a separate storage room with a big window but no plugs. Main bedroom was middle size with 4 closets that had only 3 sliding doors, so one part had to remain open to dust. It had a small private bathroom with a bathtub. In contrast, the guest bedroom was big and bright with 3 closets with full closing doors. It also had an ample private bathroom with a big shower. 3. Natural light: Guest bedroom and storage room were by far the brightest of all with beautiful views. 4. Furniture and mattresses: Furniture was simple but solid, worn out from use. Mattresses were semi hard and comfortable. A small cloth rack was provided on request. 5. Kitchen was very simply equipped. Hosted four, but you would not be able to cook for four with what you were provided. The ceramic hob required special surfaces to heat them. Fridge, oven, microwave and washing machine were very old models (a time travel to the ‘90s), but brand new. They worked very well. 6. TV’s in living room and bedrooms. You could only mirror your phone with Android. Mysteriously, in my living room, all TV sets would switch off on their own. TV sets would, on their own, switch on the “disable feature for blind” and would start “talking”, reading out the TV menus. Somerset’s Management tried out different TV sets that would work well in the other bedrooms, but would start behaving awkward when in the living room. A non solved mystery. 7. Good WiFi for everyday needs. 8. Cleanliness: The apartments rented by my firm were cleaned twice a week. The cleaning teams were composed of South East Asian males that performed their tasks the best they could. Sometimes, there were worn out towels and bedding. We went through a transition. The first weeks were chaotic, despite having two fixed assigned days a week, cleaning staff would come in every second day, sometimes not knocking. After those first weeks, we wonderfully coordinated via Whatsapp. I could even text one day in advance the preferred half of the day for cleaning. This was exceptionally appreciated given my shift work. I cannot be thankful enough for their flexibility in this regard. 9. Smells: Only the first days when an apartment close by was being refurbished. 10. Mould and pests: None. You will have pest control cleanings once every three months approximately. The infamous Somerset fire alarms: Yes, they got triggered too often. Somerset official version said that when an individual apartment triggers the smoke alarm in its kitchen, the alarms sound in the whole building, including every single room of every single apartment. These alarms could get triggered at 20h one evening and at 07h the following morning. In a year, I calculated an average of one alarm every two weeks. The alarms used to be two extremely loud buzzing sounds (the last months only one) with white flashing lights probably not recommended if you suffer epilepsy (still in use when I left). Parking: After a while, I received a spot underground, highly appreciated in summer. Otherwise, Somerset has private outdoor parking spaces in front and next to their building. Restaurant and swimming pool: No experience. Food delivery: Somerset offered, only after a Security Check, a dedicated elevator to delivery couriers. Your groceries/food/packets could be delivered at your doorstep with no added delay. I wish the apartment had been distributed differently, that the living room could have enjoyed the views and the sunlight of the guest room, that the main bedroom could have had the biggest bathroom. I hope in the future, smoke alarms in private apartments will not trigger alarms in the whole building and apartments. However, overall, it is a decent place to stay for a year. It was a very pleasant stay with somerset, the whole team is exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Akram and Khalid in specific were specially helpful and helped us out repeatedly throughout our 4 months stay. Highly recommended

الاستقبال كان سئ التعامل ماعدا الموظف كريم

تم حجز شقة بثلاث غرف نوم مع صاله وغرفة طعام بالاضافه الى مطبخ وغرفة خادمه مع حمامها فالطابق ٢٣ الشقة كانت ممتازه وشرحه جداً وفيها جميع المستلزمات المطبخ والحمام والاسره مريحه وفالصاله في سرير فالغنفة ومريح والنظافة لايعلى عليها تعامل طاقم الفندق جميعاً بدون استثناء كان جداً راقي خصوصاً الاخ الجزائري اكرم انسان خلوق ومضياف وبشوش وراقي جداً فالتعامل صالة البليارد من الاشياء اللي عجبتني بعد يوم ممطر ولم نسطع الخروج ضيعنا اليوم في صالة البليارد وفي اللوبي في كوفي ولكن ليس بالمستوى المطلوب من ناحيتي الشخصية يمكن غيري يعجبه طعم القهوة عند الباريستا اللي شغال فالكوفي مع انه الشخص الوحيد الي ماكان يبتسم وحسيت انه زعلان من زيارتنا للفندق !!! باختصار الفندق موقعه ممتاز وكل شي فيه ممتاز ومتوسط عن كل الاماكن السياحيه

المواقف لم تعجبني كونها فالجهه المقابله للفندق واللي تحت الارض فقط للسكان الي حاجزين فترات طويله الحمامات صغير شويه وتسريب المياه فيه بطيء والشاور يباله صيانه او استبدال لانه الدش مايرش الماء بالشكل المناسب اشياء بسيطه ممكن تتصللح
