Northstar by Whiski Jack

We stayed at the Whiski Jack for a couple of nights in July. Northstar offered us direct check-in (highly recommended) so we can skip the check-in process at their office in Creekside. Check-in time was 3pm. We arrived at 3:15pm and to our surprise, the cleaners were still there! When they left, they forgot to leave us the parking and swimming gate key! No problem. They dropped it off within an hour. Rough start. But after that, everything was smooth sailing. One thing to note, there is NO air conditiong regardless of what the listing says. The unit did come with three fans so enough to cool everyone down. There is construction going on so noise will be a factor for some but it did not bother us as we were out during the days. Our unit was well equipped with pots, pans and everything you need to cook. It was located right across from the Marketplace so IGA is at your doorstep should you need groceries. There is in-suite laundry provided. There are two tvs but remote was a little tricky to use. We were not able to watch cable from the bedroom tv but I'm sure there was a trick to using the remote (instructions were provided in their manual but we couldn't get it to work even with that!). But after all this, yes, this is a wonderful place to stay for families. Great location, just outside of the village. For those who want to cook and just relax after a long day hiking or skiing, this would come highly recommended

Great location. Outdoor pool was nice as well. Nich kitchen and new appliances. We requested direct-to-room check in and the staff was 20 minutes late so we had to wait outside until he arrives. The welcome centre where you check in/out is 4 km away from the area you stay so keep that in mind. The welcome centre never picked up the phone at once we always had to try at least 4-5 times. Check out time is 10am and you are supposed to run the dishwasher and do the recycling before that. You can be short of time in the morning so keep that in mind as well. The unit we stayed was right next to the administration building near the gate so it was noisy at night.

We made a last minute decision to visit whistler and as such did not have too many options for condos that met our basic criteria : Clean, Modern, 2 bedrooms, Near the village, Pool & definitely AIR CONDITIONING. We ended up renting Unit 78 At Northstar managed by Whiski Jack because the pictures looked "OK" and it clearly stated that it had a pool and Air Conditioning. Our timing was not ideal because the coast was under a thick blanket of smoke from the forest fires- this when combined with the forecasted 30 + deg temps, made Air Conditioning a MUST-HAVE. 5 days prior to check-in, I called to confirm the physical location and check-in details. Just as I was about to hang up, I asked to confirm that our condo did indeed have functioning Air Conditioning and a pool for the kids. I was shocked to be told that in fact unit 78 did not have A/C despite stating "Air Conditioning" listed under "COMFORT" on the website. I was asked to call the property manager Shawn to see if he could move us to a unit with A/C. I texted back and forth with Shawn who was able to move us to unit 125 which he was 100 % certain had A/C- I was clear to confirm and said that this was a potential deal-breaker given the heat and thick smoke that would likely force us to keep windows shut during our time in the condo. We arrived a few days later- the condo was in reasonable condition and fairly clean but was very hot & stuffy-It did not take us long to figure out that this unit had NO A/C !! I called the office for Shawn's cell and was told he was a Volunteer and that they could not release his cell number ( despite giving it to me 5 days prior), luckily I still had our text thread. I called and then texted Shawn about no A/C, he replied "while I cannot add A/C to the unit now, I can waive the $25 per day ( $50 total) resort fee to try and make up for the mistake, he went on to suggest that the weather was forecasted to cool off and that we wouldn't need it anyway..... That was the last I heard from Shaun. Apparently these folks feel that its ok to misrepresent their product and advertise falsely on the internet- We disagree and for this reason, will NOT recommend nor return.

Loved the stay. Comfortable rooms. Well built condos. Full size barbecue. Parents were impressed.

Will stay here again!!!!!

Great condo. Close to shuttle. Could use some better kitchen tools.
