Had a nice stay here view from room was lovely. Good size room and really cozy and comfortable bed. Got good night sleeps. Room was clean and tidy. Good location for walks. Enjoyed overall stay.

Perfect bed! Good room - had great “spiced hot chocolate” —- slept well. Cozy lodge!!

Outdated, needs rehab

Pretty basic in a backpacker queen and, in our case, the bathroom was far away. No restaurant choices, except on site and our fish n chips were simply awful. There are better rooms available

The staff were lovely and the location is excellent. Food was great. The building is very noisy which makes sleeping difficult as do the thin walls. The room was beautifully clean and the bed was comfortable.

Stayed two nights. Average to poor stay. Pros: Food at restaurant was good, location is great, staff are friendly, shared kitchen is useful. Most water pressure/flow I've ever had in a shower. Cons: Very dated and run down. Our bathroom smelled so bad of sewer, and the large windows in the room were screwed shut - only the small top windows could be opened to air the room out. We had to leave the bathroom light/fan on with the door closed at all times. The lights over the bed didn't work. The mattress was so worn out and had large sunken spots on both sides - made for a very uncomfortable sleep.

Simple but comfortable place to stay one night. Good value for money.

Property is conveniently located to the national park especially for those hiking the Tangariro Alpine Pass. However the hotel itself is pretty rundown and badly in need of repairs. Paint was peeling everywhere and the shower valve was broken which almost caused me to scald myself. The staff is very friendly and helpful though.

The room smelled like urine. The window hinges were broken so we couldn’t get any air unless we opened the door but then bugs would fly in.

The soaps and shampoo provided were very small. Tha bathtub was extremely slippery. The bed had an indent on one side. Room was musty and eventhough there is no ac in the rooms, they should at least offer some portable fans. We opened the sliding door but there was no screen to stop the bugs from entering.
