Waterfront Inn - Mackinaw City

Online shown as a beach side nice newer looking hotel. When arrived it looked to be a rundown motel 6. Called to hope for a possible refund and did not even check in and they refused and kept the full price of the room.

While driving north we were trying to find a hotel for the night…not many options Read the reviews it was bad. We thought we were getting a cabin for the price, but got a motel room. Very outdated and mold on the bedding. Complained to the front desk and asked for compensation. They said they could not do it. They gave me a corporate number, but no one answers and there is no answer machine.

Paid $250 for a room that has not been updated since it was built. Owners have not reinvested a dime. Beach area is weed area. No perks here at all, I would not recommend this place.

I got an electrical shock that about knocked me in my butt. Half of the outlets worked. It was dark and I went to plug in a light. The outlet is not up to code and the light had just bare copper plugs. It really hurt. I went to the office with the lamp to show her and explain what happened and I was blown off since she was busy talking to someone on her cell phone. She managed to mumble oh sorry. Cracked dirty windows Pool states it closes at 11 pm on all the plaques in the room but they close it at 10 pm. The rooms are really dated. Squishy carpet leaves your feet black Shows a beautiful cabin on the beach that’s what we thought we were getting. Come to find out it was a really old 1 story motel. Not a hotel. We left as soon as we could and they will only give us $100 out of a $400 charge. I am calling the local building inspector as soon as possible.

When we got there there was an unexpected fee for our dog but that was the least of our worries. As soon as we steped in it reaked of chemicals. My wife felt like she was going to have an allergic reaction. When we got in the room we realized there was no microwave. Which is not a big deal to some but i have food allergies and brought my own food. (There was nothing on hotels.com or their official website that disclosed this. futher more pictures in the listing SHOWED a microwave.) When i brought this to the front desk they were not ready to help. It was like pulling teeth to get a corporate number to request a refund. (As I needed a microwave and they refused to give me one) and will not answer the phone. It doesnt even go to voice mail. they said i could have used the microwave that was shared in the main office. Keep in mind we are about a football field away. We are still trying to get our money back as we didn't even stay. We found somewhere much nicer down the road Also be careful when renting a room. By the pictures I thought I was getting a cute cabin on the beach but it was actually a room on the second story In short. Terrible costumer service. Misleading info online. A scam. 1 star all around

The furniture wasn’t in very good shape and the price was too high

The pictures online are not the rooms that you stay in. The pictures online are only of the cabin that you can rent. The rooms are horrible out of a bad horror movie. They stink. They are outdated by about 50 years. The carpet is filthy they should not have carpet in hotel rooms next to a beach. My courtyard view was of a semi trailer. I could not see past it. The landline phone did not work so I could not even call the front desk. The air conditioner would not shut off. The lights did not work. I have several hundred pictures to share. I have posted them on other platforms. It was a complete nightmare. I rented it for two nights. We didn’t even stay in it the first night we slept in our truck and we left a day early. We lost all our money because there was no refunds, but me leaving reviews is going to be enough to get my money back. This place should be condemned. There is no waterpark as it states there is however, an old rundown Beverly hillbilly swimming pool. Just disgusting.

Staff was good, very friendly. A broken towel bar in our room was fixed quickly. The pictures on the Expedia web site were deceiving. They did not reflect the room we rented. The description said that the room slept 4, but there was only a single king-size bed in the room. General condition of the room was not good. The bathroom door would not close. Baseboard heating units appeared to be falling apart.

We were booked in a cabin but upon arrival were told no it was a regular room. The room was up 3 flights of stairs no elevator and the room was filthy and full of fish flies. I asked for a refund and was denied. I tried creating a claim through the insurance I purchased and it stated it needed photos for proof!!! I didn’t stay long enough to take photos!!! I demand a refund!!!
