"Kombo review"

4.0

We had booked a standard room. When we got in there the curtains were falling down and the room was dirty. We were then shown a second room which smelt strongly of urine. The third room had dirty bedding and a fourth room was no better. We were then double upgraded to a so called premium room. The curtains kept coming off their runner, the bathroom door handle was loose, the door didn't shut and the door was filthy. Also, during the week the bed was changed and stained sheets were put on, which the housekeeper would have seen but did nothing about it. I was Ill all week and had to see the Dr. We had to wait over an hour for food each lunchtime. One time my daughter sent hers back and she had to wait a further hour for a replacement. I travel abroad many times a year and I havent experienced a poorer hotel. It needs updating, painting and new curtains in every room. On the plus staff the staff are very friendly.

"On the beach"

6.0

Not a bad hotel at all. Right on the beach and has a reasonable pool. Room was clean although it seemed like no one had stayed in it for a while as it had some lingering smells of smoke in the room. We only ate breakfast in the hotel - it was ok although no fresh juice and not much variety or alternatives to the cooked food available. Pizza for lunch was good value. The prices for other food looked quite reasonable for a beach resort - much cheaper than Europe (although we didn't try dinner). Good location and it is walkable to Fajara down a windy path where you will get hassled by people trying to take you to their mates place for dinner. Most of the places in the Lonely Planet listed in Fajara as being there seem to have closed. The one great restaurant there is the Butcher's Shop - great food and service.
