FRFriendly staff, great location in the historic centre, good value for money, good breakfast. Our 4th floor room with small balcony was high enough that noise from the lively street below didn't bother us much. Huge and unmissable building works going on in the hotel, which perhaps explains the low prices. Proprietor says this should be completed by late 2026.
We would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

This was our second stay at Hotel Cortese on the same trip., and was not as good as the first (which we rated highly). We were in Room 105. and a door nearby was very noisy when it opened and closed during the late evening. The WiFi was erratic. AC control stopped working after the first time. The bathroom was clean, but used shampoo sachets and soap were left from the previous occupants. We were disappointed because our stay the week before was good. However, taking into account both our short stays, we like Hotel Cortese and wish them well with the big renovations that are going on at the moment!
