Hotel Filoxenia

This hotel really exceeded my expectations. The owner phoned a few times prior to my arrival to ensure everything was set for my stay. When I arrived, he gave me a nice drink (I forgot the name) and some fish fillet. Despite being a relatively small building, there was an elevator so it was easy to take my luggage up and down. The owner was very helpful in suggesting activities, and how to get around. I didn't even have to ask - he gave me a map with some directions straight away. Everyone seemed friendly and helpful. Now let's get to the room. It was a very decent size. For the type of hotel it was - the room was bigger than I anticipated. I even had a balcony and could see the sea from where I was. The shower although small, was still bigger than the ones in other hotels. Cleaning was good. There was a washing line outside so I could dry clothes if needed. Also table and chairs outside if I wanted to sit out there. Balcony a decent size too. Excellent location - close enough to Chania old town, and about a minute or two away from the marina. The hotel offers breakfast for 10 Euro. I didn't take it but it is cheaper than most other places in the area. Competitive rates too compared to others in the area.

Only 2 working sockets - the third one didn't work at all and the fourth one was used for the fridge. The working sockets quite far from the bed. It is a key card hotel meaning that the key has to be in for the aircon to work so it had to be turned on again and given some time to cool the room every time you entered. But honestly, I am just being picky and pedantic - everything else was very good and better than expected. And to be honest for the price I paid, I really cannot complain.
