"Very Russian"

6.0

The hotel is "very" Russian and it reminded me of the hotels I have visited in Siberia years ago. The rooms were basic and functional. The bathroom was clean and everything worked - but it was small and the soap was tiny. The water in the shower was hot but it smelt. Dinner was a corporate function with a buffet - which was not good. Breakfast was "functional" but nothing special. The TV in the room as small and the only English speaking channel was the BBC World News. A greater selection would have been much appreciated. Views from the hotel over the Volga river were spectacular. The hotel staff try hard and are friendly - this counts for a lot irrespective where you stay. The hotel was very good value for money - it was not expensive. I would stay at the hotel again - especially after having stayed there once.

"about 2km from city"

8.0

The rooms are great and the breakfast isn't bad. Having a pool is nice but the location isn't great. It is about 2km away from city centre so we had to do a lot of walking back and Forth to the city as there is no restaurants/ bars close. I would stay here again.

"Exceeded expectations"

10.0

Of the better hotels in Astrakhan, the Al Pash Grand suffers from a less than ideal location, although being on the Volga, it is at least a 15 minute walk to the main attractions such as the Kremlin and Promenade. It however compensates with pretty modern up to date and clean rooms, an ample breakfast and most importantly friendly and obliging staff especially at the breakfast service. Given the room rate, it delivers really superb value with complimentary wifi, breakfast and parking. I was really impressed with the warm welcome back on every return to the hotel. My two suggestion to enhance one stays would be to firstly include on the website details for an airport transfer booking and secondly would be to develop an outside eating or drinking area to take in the river views and sun.

"Modern and comfortable with Volga River views"

10.0

This modern hotel is 10-minutes walk from the main centre. If you like a brisk walk past many shops and restaurants through an historic area, this is a good place to stay. If you want to be in the centre of the city, then choose another hotel. The Grand has an peaceful ambience as it is located on the shores of the Volga River. Our spacious room at the back of the hotel overlooked the river. Everything about this hotel is light, bright, airy and clean. The dining room, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, overlooks the river. The buffet breakfast was good with a variety of food. Eggs to suit one's taste (sunny side up, omelette, etc) can be ordered on the spot for breakfast. I was impressed that I was able to order NZ lamb for dinner! Also, the airport is only about 15-minute drive at off-peak times. The staff spoke good English and were polite and obliging.

"Average Accommodation in a 5 Star Disguise"

Adequate and clean for Astrakhan. Hotel is fine, a very weak 4 stars in the western world. Staff has well respected the Soviet era hospitality.

Довольно приличный отель. Жаль что на вашем сайте не было предупреждения о не работающем СПА.
