Meal in the restaurant was very nice. Lots of great rooms in the hotel.

We had several issues with the some of the rooms not having hot water. This was a slight problem for such a large group of us.

Room very well serviced, lovely biscuits too. Dining room staff kindly and patiently sorted out my Sunday lunch mix up and the family all enjoyed the mea

I cannot eat a £21 breakfast. A cheaper " continental" option would have suited me more.However "Curator" opposite the hotel suited me well.

We held a charity event for 60 people sitting down for a three course meal. The staff prepared the function room to the highest standard. They opened the upstairs bar, well staffed so no waiting. The food was excellent and the waiting staff were efficient and courteous. Cannot praise the hotel enough.

The location was great. Our room was a great size. The history of the property was interesting.

The car park was a little small.

The beds were comfortable. The room was a good size, clean and well presented. The bathroom was good. Plenty of tea, coffee and goodies provided

This is a quirky and interesting 17th century hotel that is full of character and the creaky floorboards that go with it! So, if you’re expecting chic minimalism, this isn’t for you. However, if you are looking for comfortable charm with super service, then you’ll love it. Every member of the team was super, from the lovely housekeeper to the manager. Nothing was too much trouble and they were generous. They swapped me from the single ‘shoe box’ room to a larger one, and after check out they let me use an upstairs function room to work! Very kind. Breakfast is fab: cereals and fresh fruit, yoghurt, and little pastries. But the cooked food is the best bit - a lovely choice on the menu and they’re flexible with tweaking it for you. Are the rooms a bit dated and tired in places? Perhaps. But clean? Absolutely. Well kitted out? Yes! Lovely refreshments on offer? Tick (great biscuits!). And bonus points for the most powerful shower I’ve ever experienced in a hotel! And very lovely toiletries (I love Land & Water products). You will hear creaks. You might hear the neighbours through the walls. You may be able to hear people having fun in the function room. But this is a busy and popular pub in the heart of Totnes so that’s to be expected. Come prepared with ear plugs or pop to the chemist up the road and buy some! Easy. Don’t be a grump! I’d definitely stay there again if I’m in Totnes. Huge thanks to the team.
