Mandalay Luxury Beachfront Apartments

Very nicely appointed 3 bed apartment, modern equipment and spacious. Much larger 3 bed apartment than peppers nearby and the main bedroom/bathroom was huge and luxurious. Washing machine and dryer were very useful and nice pool area although this might get very busy during peak times. Really liked the bbq area by the tennis court where you can make dinner and sit and enjoy an evening with friends. Walk to town is 10-15 min but flat. Walk to beach is not even 2 minutes, from the swimming pool gate it is barely 90 seconds and the beach is beautiful. Plenty of kitchen equipment although could do with scissors but otherwise ideal for a weeks stay.

There sadly were some cons about the property we stayed in. The 3 bed luxury apartment (largest and most expensive) is not really suitable for 6 adults, the smallest bedroom is quite small with very limited hanging space and no drawers. The bed didn’t even have a headboard and was just pushed up against the window. It would be fine for children but not really for mature adults. There are no lifts which really should have been made clear at booking. As one of our party had an injury they were unable to regularly climb steps and lugging 4 weeks of luggage up from the car park to the top floor is no joy either, even if only 3 flights. We had to pay for another ground floor apartment which then worked out a lot more expensive than peppers next door. Also despite paying for the most expensive apartment, there were no views of the pool and nowhere has a view of the beach due to the vegetation so despite being labelled as beachfront, there is no beachfront or sea view, but i don’t think any property in the area has this. Whilst the apartments provide great service for towels and toilet paper etc, it’s an apartment and not a hotel like apartment. There are no abilities to buy drinks round the pool or breakfast, its 100pc self catering, so it lacks the hotel like touches that improve the quality of one’s stay. Finally, and not a Mandalay issue but a port douglas one, we found it quite tricky to get ubers after 9pm so be prepared if you are relying on this to get you back to accommodation.

the rooms were very comfortable, apartment had all the amenities' and air conditioning to make it comfortable for both couples, close to the beach, short work to the town so no need to take the car. Car parking underneath was easy access. Beautiful tropical gardens and good BBQ facilities. Two swimming pools to choose from was great. friendly helpful staff at Reception, good communication thru app and at reception

it would have been good to have rooms serviced, even every two days.

What a gorgeous place! Clean, spacious and beautifully appointed. The apartment had a lovely pool and it was a short walk into the town. Everything you could possibly want.
