Pretty old and run down. Beach out the front is eroding big time. No beach access from beachfront rooms at the sancuary resort. Just a big rock wall. Overall average.

Breakfast and food good but not excellent. I’ve stayed here before in 2018. The resort is in a wonderful location but is starting to look tired and could do with some maintenance on the buildings to freshen it up. Catering and bar staff were excellent but reception staff could have been better.

Reception staff messed up our spa booking. The sand floor on the restaurant might look like a cool tropical idea but lots of people we spoke to didn’t like it. Getting sand all over your feet and in your shoes didn’t seem to be making anyone happy.

Was very quiet and not overcrowded. Beach area was lovely. Really liked the sandy floor in the restaurant, although it does need a bit of levelling out as sometimes you are sitting on a lean or really low at the table. Food was good too, although the lack of fresh seafood dishes on offer was disappointing (we do understand that this can be influenced by poor fishing weather though)

The rooms were very comfortable, however we felt they are in need of a refresh. Our room had a very unpleasant musty smell when it had been shut up. Some sort of extractor fan in the bathrooms would make a big difference. Drainage in the shower wasn't great - the tray filled with water, was concerned it was going to overflow onto the floor.

Great breakfast, great selection of dinner options. Sanctuary pool was lovely with a swim up bar. Friendly staff abd good facilities.

More lunchtime food options along with morning tea/sweet options with coffee for when you didn't go away from the resort.

Amazing lagoon right in front of our beachfront suite

A few maintenance issues, but staff keep everything tidy and the buildings are getting 20+ yrs old now I would guess so to be expected. It’s not a 5* hotel! It’s Rarotonga and we were there to make the most of the natural beauty.
