Absolutely stunning!

Location

Location was great, except Olinda is a shadow of what it used to be, so dining options in the evening are limited within walking distance. The property itself is stunning in its setting and design.

We arrived just after 2:00 check in to find the parking area to the cottage we booked blocked by trades vehicles, with works going on around and on the cottage. Once we entered, we found mud stains on the timber floors, carpets and stairwell walls. After a few minutes of settling trying to figure out what the hell was happening here, I hear the door keypad beeping and one of the tradesmen coming in to use the bathroom and it wasn’t the first time apparently. Then we found more muddy hands marks on the toilet and bathroom door. Beyond that, the general cleanliness was below par for a “Luxury” property, with spiders and webs in many places, especially the down lights in the living area. Contacted, what I assume was the property manager, who claimed they had no idea any sort of work was taking place and was most apologetic and would contact the property owner to come to some kind of resolution. We never heard back from anyone. But by that point we resigned ourselves to the fact that we’d just stay and make the best of it. For what we paid, there should’ve been at least a box of tissues in the property. Very disappointed and poorer for the experience.

Beautiful little chatet in Olinda. Well set up in bush location but close to the road. Large bathroom and bedroom. Great Spa. Enjoyable balconies on the Kitchen living level and the Bedroom level. Nice wood burner for cold nights. Generally clean throughout. Good support people with a helpful attitude. We understand the cottages were in the process of renovation.

Lots of little things, and some not so little. Oven didnt work. Crockery was mis-matched and dodgy, Ducted heating was not functional as main duct had come apart under the house (this was quickly fixed the first morning), mold smell in bathroom, glass shower door very dificult to open, toilet cistern flush lever got stuck sometimes, blinds old, warped, frayed and dirty, bedroom blind missing chain. Various lights out including stairs to bedroom. Front door hard to lock and unlock with electronic lock.

The cottage itself is great and overall it was good!

First of all, when I arrived, there was a used tea towel and a spoon left on the kitchen table. I immediately contacted the facility, and they called me back saying it shouldn’t have been there — maybe a tradie had left it. Before our stay, I had contacted them with some questions, but they didn’t get back to me until the actual day, and they didn’t answer the questions I asked. So there were definitely some communication issues. The cabin itself was okay, but it definitely needs some updates.

The location and the tree house itself

The only thing I did not like, was the bed. It was quite uncomfortable in terms of it being lumpy.

Clean, spacious and quiet. Had a dear foraging while we had a morning coffee too.

Downstairs had bad odour. No gift baskets or breakfast option.
