Hotel D'urville Blenheim

This hotel is under new ownership. The new owners did not make it known that the hotel bar/restaurant is under construction. When we arrived at the hotel, the reception desk was closed. We checked into our room via a lockbox code. There was a Western Union across the street. A group of unsavory people were milling around outside. We did not feel comfortable walking around that neighborhood at night. We met other guests in the hotel. Just like us, they booked this hotel because of the bar/restaurant. The next day, we learned that the owners deliberately did not disclose on various booking platforms that the bar and restaurant were closed. On the positive side, the room was clean and comfortable. I do want to give a shout out to the housekeeper. I’m so sorry that I cannot recall her name but she was a shining light in the experience. The new owners are lucky to have her on staff. She is a gem.

It’s a converted bank building so the rooms are quirky . Our room was l shaped . All individually decorated . Ours was very dark with dark furniture offset by a gold coloured chair . The staff were excellent . We had a meal there and it was very good

When we were there the tiger cafe bar eas closed but that didn’t really affect our stay

The port was a nice touch for guests and the room was tidy and comfortable

Be good to see staff, we gather it was how you run the business. Cleaner was friendly.

No Lift with 2 flights of stairs.

The staff, especially Amber were so helpful and friendly : the room was just beautiful and the hotel centrally located

It was so welcoming. The Staff is amazing. I loved it

I loved everything. No elevator. But the staff were so good to carry our way too many bags.

The location was great and the rooms were clean and tidy.

Really needs new pillows as they were as thin as a blanket. Brand new bar but they wont sell regular beer only craft. We went else where because of this. Could use a bit of a freshen up. Door handles are coming off and new pillows and mattresses would help. Shame the restaurant wasn't open
