We stayed 18 nights in the cottage style apartment. The apartment in itself is genuinely lovely, very spacious all the needed equipment was available and a lovely little balcony with the most beautiful view.

Although we have had 3 major issues. First the pool area; way too small for the amount of tourists (keep in mind this is in july) to be sure to have some place at the pool you need to be there between 8 and 9am. The pool is too small, if there are pool floats being used you simply cannot swim or enjoy the pool. Second issue is the parking; as stated we stayed 18 nights yet we were only able to park 5 times on the parking from the hotel. There was no place to park if you came back after 5pm from your day trip or 23pm dinner. The issue was raised at the reception and the reaction we received was "we can never guarantee a parking spot" if you stay a long time then this is absolutely impossible and unreasonable. 3rd and biggest issue; 3 power cuts and 4 water cuts (which are absolutely normal and in general there is no problem with cuts if you are used to them) yet 25th of July we came back around 2.30 am after celebrating my birthday. The power went out at 3am. I went to check if it was general or just our place. Turns out it was a part of the hotel. I tried calling the reception but there was nobody ( I knew the opening hours but had hoped the phone was transferred to a mobile phone) then I remembered we received an emergency phone number. I started calling at 3.49am till 4.38am. We were in extreme heatwaves and had no air-conditioning which can be very dangerous for some people. I went to the reception at 7.30am in hope someone would be there but no I had to wait till 8am on the dot. After explaining the situation we were told the emergency contact did see my 14! missed calls at 5am but did not think it was important to call back. I asked for a solution or a ventilator, we received a ventilator 1h later. After all the problems we requested a compensation. We did receive 2 days of free breakfast and a discount.

We had such a lovely stay in Koutouloufari Village holiday club– a quiet and charming village just a 20-minute drive from Malia and around 30 minutes from Heraklion. The hotel was peaceful and relaxing, with a great pool bar that served amazing food. The staff were warm, friendly, and always happy to help. There’s a lovely little gelato place nearby, and the village itself is full of great restaurants with a really welcoming vibe. We also spent a perfect day at Stalis Beach – not too far away and absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet escape with great food and easy access to nearby towns and beaches.

My only issue was the cleanliness of the room, it was really dirty, it was so bad that we actually couldn’t stay at property and had to book alternative accommodation. To be fair to hotel, I did not raise the issues of cleanliness of room just raised concerns that cleaner constantly left bins at door to room.

the A/C was very old and couldn’t cool the room properly. There was mold under the toilet seat, which also didn’t stay in place and needs fixing. In the bedroom, the window had no curtain or shade, so we woke up as soon as the sun came up. The hand soap was replaced with body wash, which wasn’t ideal.Also, the photos of the room has nothing to do with reality.
