Hotel degli Ulivi

Booked this hotel for a break stopover to visit family but did not get the full used of facilities.. Swimming pool looked nice but dirty with the previous day/nights use along with cups rubbish etc left around. Next morning children running wild.. no chance for a peaceful swim. Restaurant was poor. No staff around Seems to have attempted a refurb but the shower, tiles and flooring were dirty and unfinished in the shower cubical with an open socket. Bed was thin and hard. Water in minibar was open. Noisy families and adults outside corridor up and down shouting laughing screaming..and early in the morning. Shame as it could be upgraded and with professional staff needed. Quite disappointed really.

Service was not friendly. No elevator and no luggage cart. Could not unload luggage close to hotel. Breakfast not good

The hotel is reasonably located if you are wishing to visit Matera and towns such as Craco in the surrounding beautiful countryside. That is the hotel's main strengh - although the neighbouring town is not that tourist-friendly and the exact location of the hotel is not that glamorous. The rooms are dank and are cheaply furnished and the whole interior of the hotel is quite dated and not overly pleasant. That said there are good parking facilities and a nice pool/hotel exterior. If you still want to go to this hotel having read this review please rembember one thing: THE HOTEL IS NEAR THE EXIT OF THE MAIN ROAD (SS) BETWEEN POTENZA AND THE IONIAN COAST - BEFORE YOU GO UP THE HILL TO FERRANDINA. IT IS NOT WHERE THE GOOGLE TAG FOR THE POSTCODE SHOWS IT TO BE. Therefore this hotel is very difficult to find (if you follow Google Maps) and when you get there you may wonder why you bothered.
