Lamego Hotel & Life

Lamego is a budget hotel dressed up like a luxurious one. Overall we enjoyed our stay - the indoor pool is nice, the bar and terrace beautiful, the breakfast nice enough. The view is excellent But there are lots of issues many of which could easily be rectified. The outdoor pool area is in fairly poor condition and with floating leaves in the pool. It feels a bit like a deserted mid west hotel post cyclone. There was even a pack of dogs roaming around one morning. We were told it was heated to 25 degrees. Farenheit perhaps - it is nippy and we were the only ones for our entire stay brave enough to take a dip. The rooms are very basic but nicely decorated. The reception staff are lovely but the bar is chronically understaffed. I spent minutes stood at the bar while a barman wrote casually in his notebook without acknowldinv me. I wondered if i had died and he lacked the sixth sense. The food in the bar took so long to arrive people were getting visibly irate. But when it came it was brilliant. The kids room was a nice touch although the floor polished marble, and the pool table had only ancient cues and not all of the balls. On the first night I genuinely checked if there were other available hotels for our subsequent night, but in the end we had a nice time.

Very nice one, spacious rooms with a view... great staff

The rooms are lovely. The bar area is great with a nice tapas menu. I had a Lymphatic Drainage massage which was wonderful and was able to get in for an appointment the day we arrived. The weather was not the best for the outdoor pool but it was inviting. The workout room was well equipped. However, it did not seem like all the rooms had bathrobes as ours did not. We found out on the second day we should have been greeted with a wine tasting when we checked in. We were not and had to ask about it. Also, there was a list of planned activities that we never received. It was only when I asked at checkout that found out we should have been given it at check in. There is a book in the room about the SPA but not about any other hotel amenities. The indoor pool and hot tub were not as inviting - the hot tub had quite a bit of foam in it. The rooms were quiet and the over sized king bed super comfy. The TV had an English channel which was a plus. The bar and restaurant staff were great! The included breakfast was noteworthy and was filled in well as items depleted. Dinner was a limited menu but very delicious. I did like that the hotel is eco conscious. Decor is nicely done industrial. Good stay.

Stay spoilt by our room being given to another guest whilst we were still in the room - concerns for our safety security and privacy

Everything about our stay was fantastic. Upon arrival, we were given two complimentary glasses of wine that was made by the hotel. This was such a nice touch being in the wine region. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We sat outside on their patio and enjoyed an amazing dessert with our wine. The pools and gym were clean and the options at the breakfast buffet were vast and tasty. Parking was easy. Would 100% stay here again if I’m in the area.

Un wow dans une localité rurale. Un coup de coeur pour le restaurant dont les plats sont de grande qualité avec vue impressionnante sur la Vallée de Douro et la piscine extérieure. Très agréable et relaxant! On peut découvrir de bons vins sur la terrasse.

Nice hotel that has many amenities. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is very good.

Modern, clean hotel. Easy to park. Good food. Large spacious room. Friendly checkin.

Not 4 star rooms, public areas and food lovely. Rooms not well designed, no where to put luggage except floor, no where to put shampoos, no tissue and no coffee maker. Housekeeping never thoroughly complete. Front desk and food service staff very nice.
