"A very pleasant stay with excellent hosts."

9.0

Dunallan is very well placed for access to the main street in Grantown and local walks in Anagach Woods. Hosts Steve and Jenny were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and of excellent quality with plenty of choice, and my gluten free needs were catered for in the main. Breakfast was served in a large, bright room. A large, communal table meant a very sociable meal could be enjoyed, talking to other guests of different nationalities.

My only gripe is that the room we stayed in had a low ceiling. After banging my head a few times I was careful to avoid doing the same.

"A splendid stay!"

10.0

We enjoyed our stay very much. We had a warm welcome by the hosts. We got lots of tips and information from Stephen as where to go to. We had a marvelous breakfast made by Ginny. We can recommend this stay to visit the beautiful Spey region. Do not miss nature, Cawdor castle and pay a visit to one of the distilleries.

"Weekend in Cairngorms"

10.0

A beautiful traditional guest house. The owner waited on the guests personally for breakfast! And I met some interesting people over the breakfast table while staying at Dunallan guest house. This immediately caused me to remember reading the book by Oliver Wendell Holmes about the breakfast time conversations they had in far off times at an old style boarding house somewhere in America, which he called "The Poet at the Breakfast Table". The difference there seemed to be that they were permanent boarders at that house, whereas this was more intended as accommodation for transient holiday makers, but the leisurely breakfast with conversation was very pleasant indeed, and made a good start to a day's touring in a very beautiful region of Scotland. Grantown itself has some fine dining rooms, including the one at the "Grant Arms" that Queen Victoria once visited in the main street, and I found them to be good for dinner!

Here there were no real problems for me at all. I did notice that the official parking space at the back of the premises had become slightly impractical because if I had myself gone into the remaining space on my arrival for the first night it would invariably have blocked somebody else in, but fortunately the street in front was not restricted. People will note that it is necessary in this type of accommodation to find somewhere else to eat for dinner, as it is strictly bed and breakfast, but since I knew that when booking it was not a problem for me!
