Delightful owner and a genuine welcome

The best part of our stay was the family dog. Breakfast was good. Owner was friendly. Lovely view out our window of the English countryside. Very close to The Cotswold Way.

The room was a little bit too warm. We had to pay 10 pounds for the staff to wash one load of laundry. Didn’t get to enjoy being outside in a garden like I imagined. VERY steep hill to walk up to get to town. A lot of construction equipment on property (spoiled the atmosphere).

The room was spacious. The breakfast was okay with the fruit salad being excellent.

Limited choice of continental and cooked options. In the bathroom the shower was good, but it took an age and wasted water to get only lukewarm water from the handbasins. In the bedroom there was no welcome or TV instruction leaflet (the 3 remotes were baffling). The family dog was allowed to wander into the dining room expecting attention.

Richard was an exceptionally welcoming host, and went out of his way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He is a wonderful conversationalist, attentive and interested in his guests. A medical issue arose while we were at Tibbiwell, and Janina immediately taxied us to the emergency room in Gloucester, waited to see that we were okay in the ER, texted several times to see how we were doing, and then returned to bring us 'home' to Tibbiwell. Between these two wonderful hosts, we were well taken care of. ... Our room was lovely, very clean and spacious, with a beautiful view of the Cotswold hills. Thank you for generous hospitality. We highly recommend Tibbiwell Lodge in beautiful Painswick.

There was nothing to dislike!

Perfect location. Lovely accommodation which had a great relaxed atmosphere. Our room exceeded all expectations, we had this lovely balcony with spectacular views. Very tasty breakfast with a generous choice of cereal, fresh fruit yoghurt fresh coffee and toast, all that before you have your cooked breakfast. The host and the lovely lady who cooked our breakfast and looked after our room were “ the best”.

There was nothing not to like.

Pet friendly lodge

The KING STUDIO WITH SOFABED was unfinished. The blinds were faulty - no privacy and light comes through the broken blinds in the morning, the kitchen oven has a hanging off socket inside the cupboard but more importantly - the floor is sinking as you step out of the shower. In short, the room in (Aug 2024) is unsafe/unfit for rental until these issues are rectified. Unfortunately, Booking.com is advising us that the owner refuses to budge. As he does not acknowledge these concerns (especially with the safety of the shower room), I feel that I have a duty of care to warn other potential visitors NOT to stay in the King suite and sofabed room until the owner has confirmed he has addressed these issues. Furthermore, there are also safety issues on the grounds. There seems to be a lot of building materials and his machinery in the parking area making it difficult for the visitors to park and for getting in and out. The pictures of the King Studio and sofabed do not show that the room is an add-on to the house and its French doors opens directly onto this carport and people can look straight into the bedroom.

Wonderful location, staff are lovely. We felt looked after. Breakfast was great. Janina, our "housekeeper" was such a delightful person to meet. She was both attentive and very efficient. Richard, the owner, is a lovely bloke who made us feel at home at the lodge.

Be aware that the private bathroom is just outside the door for the twin room (where we stayed), so the bathroom door is on a communal landing. At £120 a night, I felt, that was £20 too much, but I expect, compared with other rooms for rent in the pretty village of Painswick, that's a bargain.

Location

The lady was very welcoming from the first time we met until our last goodbye. Painswick is a beautiful place and the surrounding areas were full of places to see and things to enjoy. Breakfast was good and there were places to sit outside where my son and I could enjoy a game of uno or a throw of the ball around without disturbing the other guests. We would recommend to anyone who will listen.
